Enterprise Risk Manager
The Enterprise Risk Management (‘ERM’) team sits within the Group Risk Management function at Convex, which is comprised of three ‘pillars’ (teams); Insurance Risk, Financial & Market Risk, and ERM. The primary role of the Enterprise Risk Manager is to support the Group through the effective delivery of oversight and monitoring of Enterprise Risk. This role will also provide an opportunity to work and collaborate across the three pillars within the Group Risk Management function and lead key risk management processes or projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and embed a strong risk culture across the business, which will be built upon positive engagement with each business area.
- Help drive the completion of the quarterly Risk and Control Self-Assessment (‘RCSA’) process ensuring that RCSA data and MI is up to date and accurate.
- Work with first-line business functions to ensure the completeness of their risk and control documentation, and provide challenge to their assessments when required.
- Develop the framework for control effectiveness assessment and attestations.
- Develop the automation and use of technology within the team, to drive efficiencies and enable increased analysis and challenge.
- Monitor and manage risk incidents that have been reported across the Convex Group, which will include the updating of systems and liaison with key business stakeholders to ensure that the relevant actions are completed.
- Assist with the development of the GSSA/ORSA process and reports, and other formal risk reporting across entities.
- Further develop and embed the risk appetite statements and metrics across the Group.
- Monitor and track Risk Management actions, ensuring that all actions are up to date and any overdue actions are flagged appropriately.
- Ensure timely production of risk reporting for the CROs before it is submitted to the Risk Committees and/or relevant Executive Committee and Boards.
- Review and enhance the Risk Management policies and frameworks.
- Undertake risk reviews across the business as required, which will help enable proactive risk management actions.
- Monitor and report on emerging risks and opportunities in collaboration with other members of the Risk Management function.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- ERM experience within the Insurance industry, preferably at a Property & Casualty Insurer.
- Knowledge of and experience with ERM software, and the use of this in performing risk and control assessments.
- An analytical mindset, allowing the ability to monitor and understand both quantitative and qualitative pieces of data or information effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with proven experience in building positive relationships across the business enhancing the brand of the Risk function.
- Ability to provide constructive challenge to first-line business functions when required.
- Openness to technology and a desire to drive improvements with data, automation and insights.
- Effective team player, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Alignment to the Convex values and ways of working.
