The Role
We are looking for a Data Analyst to work within our Underwriting team for Delegated Authorities – North America. The team writes a mixture of commercial and personal lines across USA & Canada. Classes include Homeowners, Commercial Property, Commercial Liability, Automobile (APD & MTC) and Flood (RCBAP, Homeowners & Commercial). There will be an emphasis towards enhancing the team’s technological and analytical capabilities. This position will ideally suit an individual who is interested in building a career in underwriting with the opportunity as the role develops and embeds of working towards being responsible for their own allocated accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and improve upon team’s current PowerBI analytics and reporting.
- Apply loss development curves across portfolio within analytics tools.
- Represent team across various Syndicate IT projects.
- Assist syndicate management with Target Operating Model based on desired future processes.
- Co-ordinate regulatory returns alongside relevant stakeholders.
- Assist the Underwriters for both new and renewal business liaising with brokers accordingly including analysing accounts.
- Handle business using actuarial pricing models adhering to any applicable Personal Authority Limits (PALs)
- Understand the application of catastrophe models (RMS or equivalent) for underwriting purposes.
- Liaise with and work alongside other key stakeholders such as claims, actuarial, delegated underwriting management and cat modelling teams.
- Calculate profit commission statements
Essential Skills & Experience
- ACII qualified or working towards.
- Ability to analyse, model and interpret data.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Excel especially Pivot Tables, vlookups & IF statements.
- Experience using software and functions such as MS Access, MS PowerBI, MS Power Automate/Flow, VBA/DAX and Python.
- Proficient with MI tools such as Qlik.
- Ability to use SQL.
