The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Operations Manager to lead our data operations team at Bell and Clements. This critical role combines leadership, operational excellence, and technical expertise to enhance data workflows, drive business transformation, and ensure alignment with organisational goals. Overview
The Data Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in driving data management excellence and analytical innovation. This includes leading a growing team of data professionals, implementing transformative projects, and shaping data strategy in collaboration with the Chief Innovation Officer. The successful candidate will ensure that B&C delivers cutting-edge data solutions to support internal teams, customers, reporting entities, and trading partners.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage the Data Operations team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and collaboration.
- Workload Management: Plan, prioritise, and allocate team workload effectively to ensure timely delivery of tasks and projects.
- Operational Oversight: Supervise daily data processing activities, ensuring data quality, integrity, and timely delivery of dashboards, reports and insights.
- Data Warehouse Management: Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the Data Warehouse to support reporting and analytical capabilities.
- Process Optimisation: Continuously evaluate and improve data workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy across the organisation.
- Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with senior management to ensure data operations align with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Serve as the key liaison between Data Operations and other departments, such as Underwriting, Finance and Claims, to address and support their data needs.
- Project Management: Lead and deliver data-related projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their data requirements, challenges, and objectives, and provide effective solutions.
- To embrace and actively implement the core principles of Continuous Conversations; (Commitments, Feedback and Development) as part of daily activities and with other colleagues;
- Take ownership of and make personal and professional development a priority as part of Continuous Conversations;
- In line with Continuous Conversations, establish and achieve development aspirations and needs through the setting of commitments and giving and receiving frequent, constructive feedback (referring to resources provided for support);
- To abide by the policies and procedures of MRS-NA.
Key Skills and Experience
Technical Skills
- Expertise in SQL and data manipulation within Microsoft SQL Server, including SSRS.
- Proficiency in Tableau\Power BI or other BI tools.
- Strong understanding of data warehouse principles and data management tools.
- Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks in a regulated environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure Data Tools.
Leadership & Strategy
- Proven experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Ability to foster collaboration and create a positive, accountable work culture.
- Strategic thinker with a proven ability to diagnose issues, identify solutions, and implement effective strategies.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data operations, preferably in the insurance sector.
- In-depth understanding of insurance data, including underwriting, claims, and risk data.
Other Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Solid project management experience, including planning, execution, and delivery.

This position is offered on a Permanent basis. Annual salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Annual leave - 25 days per year (plus bank holidays), increases with length of service.
