Are you passionate about precision in contract drafting and eager to make your mark in the dynamic world of reinsurance? Gallagher Re is seeking a talented Contract Wordings Specialist to lead our efforts in crafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts for our Aerospace and Specialty Lines Reinsurance. This is an exciting new role where you'll be at the forefront of ensuring our contracts are not only accurate and compliant but also strategically valuable.

How you'll make an impact
- Contract Development and Review:
- Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance contracts, with a focus on aviation and specialty lines risks
- Engage and align with market practices to develop bespoke clauses for treaties and facultative placements
- Amend and update contract wordings to meet underwriting requirements and adapt to regulatory changes
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all contracts adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., LMA, IUA)
- Identify and mitigate potential ambiguities, risks, or conflicts within contracts
- Collaboration:
- Liaise with broking, claims, actuarial, and legal teams to ensure wordings reflect commercial intent
- Collaborate with brokers, reinsurers, and external legal counsel during negotiations
- Market Expertise:
- Stay informed on aviation and specialty lines reinsurance market trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments
- Provide technical advice on aviation-specific reinsurance wordings to internal teams and clients
- Training and Development:
- Contribute to the development of best practices and internal guidelines for contract wordings
- Mentor junior staff and provide training on reinsurance terminology and aviation/specialty lines specific clauses
- Operational Excellence:
- Drive the maintenance of accurate records of contract versions and approval processes.
- Ensure timely delivery of finalised wordings to relevant stakeholders
About You
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven experience in handling contract wordings in a similar role within the insurance industry or a related field
- Strong understanding of global reinsurance regulations and compliance requirements
- Specialist knowledge of aviation and specialty lines reinsurance is desirable
- Experience with facultative and treaty reinsurance wordings is desirable
- Professional qualifications such as ACII or equivalent are desirable
Skills
- Keen ability to identify and address ambiguities or inconsistencies in contracts.
- Proficient in evaluating complex risks and aligning contract terms accordingly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex terms clearly and effectively.
- Confidence in negotiating terms with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
