Beazley are looking for an experienced Ceded Reinsurance Operations Manager to oversee our Ceded Reinsurance team on a 6 month FTC. This role will lead a team of experienced RI administrators, and be responsible for all of our global reinsurance operational processes. You will share knowledge, collaborate, challenge and influence, leading the delivery of effective and efficient global reinsurance operations. The individual in this role will have a strong understanding of all reinsurance types, and be able to lead the team on their journey through reinsurance modernisation.
Job Summary:
Provide strategic and operational support to the Group Head of Underwriting & Reinsurance Operations in delivering Beazley’s vision of being the highest performing specialist insurer. To work with the Group Head of Underwriting & Reinsurance Operations in the leading, managing, and developing the Reinsurance Administration team.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy
Work with the Head of Underwriting & Reinsurance Operations and the Head of Ceded Reinsurance to:
- Deliver an effective and efficient reinsurance administration strategy.
- Develop and maintain a reinsurance administration function capable of supporting Beazley’s growth into a $10bn company.
- Review and evaluate current operations and systems in terms of efficiency, and develop your own systems strategy to resolve issues.
Leadership
- Lead the Reinsurance Administration team to ensure standards of accuracy and customer service are defined, monitored and maintained within core business functions.
- Ensure the structure of the Reinsurance Administration team is fit for purpose, and review the structure on an ongoing basis to ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensure that people are recruited, deployed and developed to anticipate and meet current and future needs.
- Ensure that all employees have the knowledge and the skills necessary to perform effectively in their given roles and responsibilities.
Operational Support
- Ensure proper and effective administration of reinsurance programmes
- Identify opportunities for improving processes including process re-engineering, working with business users and IT.
- Ensure that Ceded Reinsurance has full ownership and understanding of reinsurance-related figures and contributes actively to the peer review process.
- Responsible for the integrity of reinsurance-related data.
Other tasks may involve, but are not limited to the oversight for:
- The production and timely delivery of reinsurance recovery figures in the nett close period.
- The day to day management of reinsurance credit control including responding to queries and the pro active management of disputes to achieve an early and advantageous outcome for the Group.
- The management of reinsurance brokers to ensure timely notification and collection of reinsurance recoverables.
- The development of effective working relationships with reinsurers to expedite payment of the Group’s recoveries.
- Provision of effective and pertinent management information to facilitate proper management of the function and to keep senior management appropriately advised of developments and issues.
- The production and collation of the reinsurance operation’s records in readiness for internal/external audit reviews with particular reference to inwards and outwards claims.
- The operating, monitoring and reporting the status of controls and to liaise with Risk Management in reporting and escalating significant control failings/weaknesses or events that may arise.

- Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups
Personal Specification:
Essential Criteria:
- ACII qualified, or progressing towards the qualification
- Experience leading an outwards reinsurance operations team
- Knowledge of insurance operations
- Demonstrable history of embedding process change in a complex environment
- Excellent motivational, leadership and influencing skills, will be critical to success
