As the Investment Accounting Manager, you will be an integral part of an accounting team that supports a $7B portfolio made of Fixed Income and Alternative Investment asset classes. You will report to the Head of Investment Accounting and will work closely with the internal investment managers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly journal bookings, bank reconciliations, and general ledger reconciliations primarily relating to investment transactions and accounts.
- Assisting in the preparation and review of the US GAAP financial statement investment disclosures & MD&A for the SEC 10Q/10K.
- Assisting in the preparation and review of US Statutory investment schedules.
- Assisting in the preparation and review of rating agency and capital analyses.
- Assisting in the determination of the proper accounting treatment of complex transactions.
- Implementing, documenting, and maintaining appropriate processes and controls in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Managing internal and external audit requests.
- Supporting various treasury related activities.
- Preparing material for management and board committee presentation.
- Participating in process improvement and ad hoc projects as required including opportunities beyond investment accounting.
Your skills and abilities should include:
- Internationally recognized qualified accounting designation (CA, ACA, CPA or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, or equivalent experience as a manager or higher in investments in the insurance industry.
- Prior experiences in an investment related role or prior audit / advisory experience with one of the Big 4 accounting firms is preferred.
- Recent investment accounting experience in US GAAP is required, experience with US STAT is preferred.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point is essential.
- Experience with general ledger system such as Workday and investment accounting and analytic systems such as Clearwater and Aladdin.
- Extensive knowledge of fixed income asset classes as well as other asset classes including public equity, private equity, real estate, hedge funds and other investment funds is preferred.
- Self-motivated and highly analytical.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills with proven ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and respond to changing priorities.
