You'll work in partnership with industry innovators, sharing knowledge, ideas, and passion for new products and solutions that address the biggest challenges of our time.
Lloyd’s Lab is Europe’s leading insurance innovation hub, an innovation engine for new ideas, emerging technologies, and market wide transformation across the Lloyd’s ecosystem. Our multi programme portfolio is designed to help the market develop, validate, and adopt innovative solutions.
Lloyd’s Lab comprises four core programmes:
- Lab Accelerator: a 10‑week start-up accelerator focused on product development and building solutions for the Lloyd’s market.
- Lab Alumni: support for graduate companies as they scale and embed their solutions across the Lloyd’s market.
- Lab Discovery: a structured proof of concept programme that tests new technologies and approaches against market wide, high impact challenges.
- Lab Training: an 8‑week innovation capability building programme helping market participants learn how to design and develop new solutions.
In addition, Lab Consulting provides bespoke innovation services and tailored bespoke support to Lloyd’s Market organisations seeking deeper, customised engagement.
Finally, Lloyd’s Lab runs a structured series of community events designed to engage and inspire the Market:
- Lab Learns: Delivers thought leadership sessions focused on emerging risks, featuring external experts who bring new insights and education to the Market.
- Lab Lates: Brings market participants together around specific innovation themes or emerging risks to workshop challenges, co‑create solutions, and share best practice.
The role owns the development and embedding of the Lab’s innovation frameworks, oversees consulting and commercial advisory activity, strengthens market and ecosystem partnerships, where the key responsibilities include:
Strategy
- Shape and evolve the Lab’s approach to product development, innovation frameworks and commercialisation, ensuring it remains consistent, credible and high quality.
- Provide strategic leadership across the Lab’s consulting and innovation partnership functions.
- Contribute to long term roadmap planning, ensuring Lab activity supports corporate strategy and market innovation needs.
- Drive, oversee and prioritise the Lab roadmap activity and events.
- Act as a senior advisor on innovation methodology, market challenges, product strategy and commercial pathways.
Market Development & Strategic Partnerships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with managing agents, brokers, innovation leads, ecosystem partners and founders.
- Understand market needs, commercial pressures and innovation opportunities, shaping how the Lab supports them.
- Represent the Lab in senior level conversations, becoming a trusted source of insight, innovation guidance and commercial thinking.
- Strengthen Lloyd’s position in the global innovation ecosystem through partnership development, intelligence sharing and thought leadership.
Programmes: Consulting, Sprints & Testbeds
- Lead the Lab’s consulting and advisory services, ensuring engagements are well structured, credible and aligned to market priorities.
- Provide high quality coaching and strategic guidance to teams participating in development sprints or innovation engagements.
- Ensure the Lab’s innovation framework (e.g. Lean → POC → Scale) is applied consistently across relevant programmes and projects.
- Work closely with programme leads (Accelerator, Discovery, Training) to ensure cross programme consistency in delivery, innovation methodology and commercial logic.
- Ensure to keep track of KPI’s and performance to ensure all activities drive commercial outcomes.
Market & Ecosystem Engagement
- Play a leading role in Lab engagement initiatives (e.g., Lab Learns & Lab Lates, targeted convenings, industry panels, strategic workshops).
- Share insights and emerging trends with the market and internal stakeholders, helping align innovation with strategic opportunities.
- Produce high quality narratives, case studies and thought leadership that articulate the value and outcomes of Lab innovation activity.
- Act as a visible ambassador for the Lab, representing its commercial and innovation capabilities externally.
Global Collaboration
- Work with regional Lloyd’s offices to understand global innovation needs and support regional strategies.
- Provide guidance on applying the Lab’s frameworks to programmes such as Singapore POCs or global strategic partnerships.
- Ensure consistency in how global stakeholders access and leverage the Lab’s innovation support.
Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Provide strong people leadership to a growing team (minimum of three), setting clear priorities, offering coaching and development, and fostering a high performance, inclusive and psychologically safe culture across the Lab and Academy.
- Ensure high standards of operational discipline, including clear planning, documentation, communication and governance; uphold consistency and quality across consulting, sprints and partnership engagements; and collaborate closely with the Business Analyst to maintain accurate tracking of innovation activity, insights and stakeholder engagement.
