Location: This role is based from our London office with time spent working from home and from the office (three times a week in the office).

The role
The Senior Market Data Analyst will be responsible for managing, analysing and governing market data products, data and services to ensure they are licensed and used compliantly, efficiently and accurately across the organisation.
The role will have responsibility for supporting the provision of services to various functions within RS&AM, PIO and across the Group in respect of all Market Data Products and Services including Index Data.
The function is essential to Capital Markets, PIO, Front Office, Finance, Middle Office and Back Office operations. The team plays a pivotal role in managing and maintaining Market Data licenses and contracts across Phoenix, providing deep subject matter expertise on products used with the Group. It supports robust governance frameworks and supports operation control of investment activities through correct licensing of data, products and services.
In this role, you’ll act as a subject matter expert in Market Data, helping to design, build, and implement key support capabilities. These include the following:
- Market Data Management
- Source data from various vendors (e.g. Bloomberg, LSEG, ICE, MSCI, FTSE, S&P)
- Support businesses with new/existing data & service requirements
- Manage compliance issues internally & externally including audits
- Stakeholder Support
- Act as a point of contact for business users and supporting teams
- Translate business requirements into solutions
- Support onboarding of new products, services and data
- Vendor & Cost Management
- Monitor contracts, entitlements, and usage rights
- Identify cost saving opportunities and remove unused services
- Support vendor negotiations
- Data Analysis & Financial Reporting
- Analyse Market Data usage, maintain costs and trends
- Provide regular reports on data consumption & spend
- Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with vendor licensing terms
- Support audits and regulatory requests
- Maintain Market Data standards, controls and documentation
Reporting to the Head of Market Data & Index Oversight and working collaboratively within the MD&IO team, the role will support Capital Markets, Policyholder Investment Office, Finance, Middle/Back Office teams including the Group’s growing/changing suite of Products and Services with a focus on transparency in vendor cost, compliant data, indices & benchmarks, ratings and core data requirements, system include e.g. Aladdin and InVista.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to be part of a growing capability in this specialised area of RS&AM PIO (Policyholder Investment Office) within the Phoenix Group, where versatility, resilience, adaptability and proactive approach to change are essential to ensure the success of the team.
What are we looking for?
- Extensive knowledge of Market Data Management principles, policies, and operating procedures within Financial Services, with strong numerical and financial analysis capability.
- Subject matter expert (SME) in market data products, vendor platforms, licensing models, contract terms, cost structures, and global financial markets.
- Deep expertise in Bloomberg Data Licensing, the LSEG product suite, Ratings Agencies, and Research products.
- Strong understanding of market data categories, key providers, technology solutions, and complex regulatory environments.
- Proven ability to manage demand, interpret business requirements, and work collaboratively with diverse teams, stakeholders, and suppliers.
- Skilled in presentation, facilitation, and turning emerging situations into positive, proactive outcomes.
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
