Legal Counsel – Salary circa £45,000

A bit about the job
You’ll join a collaborative and supportive legal team which provides first class legal advice to Aviva’s UK General Insurance and Health businesses, working closely with colleagues across Legal, Compliance, Risk and the wider business. In this role, you’ll provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice and support on a broad range of distribution and commercial arrangements with partners, brokers, aggregators and other third parties across Aviva’s full suite of UKGI and Health products. You’ll build trusted relationships with stakeholders, draft and negotiate key agreements, and deliver clear, high-quality legal guidance in a fast-paced environment. You’ll also play an important role in enabling Aviva’s strategic priorities whilst identifying and mitigating legal risks, sharing best practice, and supporting effective business decision-making.
Skills & Experience required
- Solicitor, barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with the right to practise in the UK, bringing a strong commercial mindset and the ability to balance legal advice with business objectives.
- Proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, with the ability to provide clear, concise and commercially focused legal advice. Experience of distribution, intermediary and/or partnership agreements as well as knowledge of the financial services sector, particularly insurance distribution, would be advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively across business functions and with external partners and advisers.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and risk management capabilities, with the confidence to identify legal and regulatory issues early and support effective mitigation strategies.
- Able to manage a varied and demanding workload effectively while maintaining high standards of delivery.

- Salary circa £45,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity -10% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
