Who are we?
We’re Standard Life, a retirement specialist focused entirely on retirement savings and income. We champion the belief that everyone’s journey to and through retirement can be better, and for more than 200 years, we’ve been helping our customers plan and prepare for their financial futures.
Life today is increasingly complicated, uncertain and unpredictable. People move through different careers, face unexpected moments and navigate important choices. We offer our colleagues flexibility, trust and benefits that work for whatever life brings. In return we expect curiosity, connection, accountability and high standards. We make room for what matters - so you can bring your best, every day.
The Role
We’re looking for a Crisis Response Manager to join our Operational Resilience Crisis & Incident Response team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a hands-on role in helping Standard Life prepare for, respond to and recover from disruption. You'll participate in incident and crisis response activities, support the development of response playbooks, contribute to Important Business Service mapping and testing, and help deliver simulations and resilience initiatives.
You'll gain a unique understanding of how a complex global organisation operates, whilst helping strengthen preparedness, response capability and resilience across the enterprise.
The Team
Operational Resilience is about helping Standard Life prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruption, ensuring the organisation can continue to deliver important services and outcomes when unexpected events occur.
Whether challenges arise from technology failures, cyber incidents, supplier issues, operational events, data incidents, physical disruption or other unforeseen circumstances, Operational Resilience helps the organisation understand how its services operate, identify critical dependencies and respond effectively when issues arise.
It is a constantly evolving discipline that requires ongoing learning, exploration, and adaptation to ensure Standard Life remains prepared for emerging threats, new disruption scenarios, and changing resilience challenges.
The Crisis & Incident Response team sits within Operational Resilience and plays a central role in helping the organisation prepare for and respond to disruption.
No two days are the same. One day you could be supporting a resilience simulation, the next helping to develop a new response playbook, responding to an incident, conducting Important Business Service mapping or testing, or researching emerging disruption and resilience topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and lead the development and continuous improvement of response playbooks and response arrangements.
- Support Important Business Service mapping and testing activities, working with stakeholders to understand services, dependencies and delivery models.
- Support and lead simulations, exercises and stakeholder engagement activities, driving lessons learned, improvement opportunities and actions.
- Support and participate in incident and crisis response activities, including providing support to Gold, Silver and Bronze response teams during disruption events.
- Research emerging threats and resilience developments, whilst producing incident, simulation and exercise reports and maintaining resilience documentation and evidence
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who is curious, proactive and enjoys solving problems, learning and working with others. You'll have an interest in understanding how services operate, exploring new challenges and helping strengthen resilience across Standard Life.
- Experience or an understanding of Operational Resilience, incident management, crisis management, business continuity, service management or operational response activities.
- Ability to understand how services operate and how people, processes, technology, data and third parties support organisational outcomes, including an appreciation of service mapping, dependencies and resilience testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research, analyse and translate information into practical actions, recommendations and outcomes.
- Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to independently manage and deliver multiple activities simultaneously, including resilience initiatives, testing activities and stakeholder deliverables.
- Solid communication, stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes and drive progress across different teams and levels of the organisation.
We want to hire the whole version of you.
We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you.
