Job Description
The role is a 50/50 split between the following:
- Financial Reporting Controls: supporting the business to develop and execute effective and efficient internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and providing assurance thereon
- Operational internal audits and advisory work
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
Financial Controls Work:
- Chair the Financial Reporting Oversight Group (executive and senior mgt stakeholders)
- Partner with business owners to help their design of an effective system of internal controls over financial reporting
- Collaborate with business leaders to support the business creation of flowcharts of key processes, identifying key risks and controls
- Lead business process reviews (finance control walkthroughs) to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting
- Ensure the identification of key risks, adequacy of stated controls and process documentation, and identify any control gaps
Internal Audit and Advisory Work:
- Lead in the development and performance of individual audits / advisory work to ensure that projects and stakeholders focus on key risks and controls
- Apply critical thinking skills to evaluate various tasks, procedures, policies and findings to ensure alignment to overarching business strategy
- Influence decision makers when discussing engagement results to provide stakeholders adequate awareness of the state of governance, risk management, and control processes. Present identified issues, recommended actions, and opportunities for improvement.

- Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills, including active listening skills and oral presentation skills.
Experience required:
Long-term track record of working independently in a risk-based control environment within the insurance sector

Reporting to senior management/Board/Committee
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements
