Job Description
Westfield Specialty International are currently looking for a Snowflake developer to join its internal development team. WSI has a series of landing zones in Snowflake for its inhouse developed and third party applications. The Data Strategy Developer will manage the Snowflake environment, participating in the creation of new datasets and the investigation and remediation of existing datasets and creating monitoring dashboards to demonstrate the health of the platform.
Responsibilities
Westfield Specialty International are currently looking for a Snowflake developer to join its internal development team. WSI has a series of landing zones in Snowflake for its inhouse developed and third party applications. The Data Strategy Developer will manage the Snowflake environment, participating in the creation of new datasets and the investigation and remediation of existing datasets and creating monitoring dashboards to demonstrate the health of the platform.
Key Accountabilities
• Review the existing landing zones for Snowflake.
• Enhance the existing landing zones to create reporting optimised datasets to eliminate, where possible, joins and calculations within the MI reporting suite.
• Work as part of an Agile project team (BA and ETL developer) to determine and prioritise data backlog.
• Develop controls to monitor and report on the health of the Snowflake environment.
• Work with the BA and application support team to diagnose and remediate issues within the Snowflake environment.
Role Requirements
• The Data Strategy Developer – Snowflake will be responsible for the creation, support and enhancement of all dataset within the Snowflake environment.
Reporting Relationships
• Reporting into the Westfield Specialty International (WSI) Head of Applications, with special relationships with the project delivery team and the application support team. A strong business relationship with the MI and Performance Manager is essential.
Skills/Competencies
• Ability to prioritise multiple competing deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Eye for attention to detail
• Deep knowledge of Snowflake on cloud services, preferably Azure
• Development expertise on all snowflake objects.
• Ability to work as part of a hybrid / virtual team.
• Knowledge of DevOps Tooling (Terraform, Git, Azure DevOps)
Qualifications
• 5+ years of work experience in data management, software engineering, or database administration.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is required and/or commensurate experience preferred.
• Previous experience working in the insurance industry and / or Lloyds of London is desirable.
