Lloyd’s is seeking to recruit a Data Analyst. You will report to the Senior Data Scientist, Predictive Analytics the overall objective of the Data Analyst is to build data processes, applications and dashboards to enhance data insights across MRC.
The Corporation of Lloyd’s oversees and provides services to support the Lloyd’s market and promotes Lloyd’s around the world. Market Reserving & Capital (MRC) is the actuarial department in the Corporation and is responsible for market oversight including monitoring the adequacy of reserves and capital at syndicate level, and for the calculation of capital requirements for members and the Central Fund. The responsibilities of MRC require analytics to be used on our data to support syndicate oversight and feed other departments.
Principal Accountabilities
- Work as part of the Predictive Analytics team to build data processes, applications, and dashboards,
- collaborating with key stakeholders to define requirements and fulfil business needs.
- Assist in the launch of new tools and methods of analysis to the relevant business teams.
- Understand the wider insurance industry and macro-economic environment to make sure that Lloyd’s trends are considered and investigated.
- Present results of analysis to a variety of audiences, both internal and external, with differing levels of experience and knowledge of both data science and insurance.
- Act as a champion for best practices in data processing and applications in the Market Reserving and Capital team at Lloyd’s, including providing training and sharing knowledge in formal and informal ways.
- Assist in the collection and management of key MRC datasets.
- Assist in supporting the systems used by the Lloyd’s Internal Model (LIM).
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Experience working with specialist data science tooling which may include Python, R and SQL.
- Skills in analytical and data reporting software such as SQL Server, R, and/or python; or possess clear
- potential to further develop these skills from a solid working base knowledge
- Experience in providing data insights through dashboards and visualisations.
- Experience in summarising and conveying complex processes and solutions
- Working knowledge of tools used for building web applications and dashboards.
- Working knowledge of tools and techniques used to manipulate and analyse large volumes of data.
- Basic understanding of data science and machine learning techniques.
- Basic knowledge of insurance principles and practices, as well as practices specific to the London/Lloyd’s markets would be beneficial but is not a requirement.
- Undertake detailed technical analysis under guidance.
- Able to communicate to a range of stakeholders both inside and outside Lloyd's
- Able to manage priorities on multiple projects simultaneously and communicate any issues arising.
