Job Opportunity:
BHSI has an exciting opportunity for a Professional Indemnity Senior Claims Examiner to join our London team. The individual will be responsible for handling high value, complex claims across all professions, including our leading top tier lawyers and construction book, working closely with underwriters internally and key customers and brokers externally. This is an opportunity to work within a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to best in class claims handling.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Managing claims across our professional indemnity book of business, mainly Primary positions, and written out of London.
- Proactively investigate and handle challenging claims from first notice of loss through ultimate resolution while advising internal stakeholders and meeting with clients and brokers as required.
- Negotiate settlement of third-party claims and make timely payments upon agreement.
- Instruct and manage external loss adjusters, experts and solicitors
- Serve as a technical resource by mentoring other claims professionals and sharing technical knowledge related to financial lines claims.
- Representing BHSI at internal and external meetings including review and new business meetings with brokers and key customers.
- Keeping abreast of legal and regulatory developments and sharing knowledge internally and externally.
- Prepare reports, accurately set reserves within handling authority, or make claim recommendations concerning reserve changes above authority.
- Work alongside underwriters and other business partners to add value to our service proposition.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Should have capability of handling a variety of professional lines claims, including lawyers, construction, tech, and media claims.
- A minimum 5 to 7 years of financial lines claims handling experience in the UK and additional jurisdictions, or matching equivalency.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
