The opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Global Casualty team for Zurich Resilience Solutions guiding our European Casualty Risk Engineering teams. This pivotal role will lead the development of technical capabilities while driving consultancy initiatives across the region. This role involves shaping high-impact solutions, enhancing and expanding technical expertise, fostering internal and external relationships, standardising best practices and ensuring the delivery of innovative value-driven consulting services.
There is a requirement for proven leadership and influencing skills to set and align the strategic direction for the region. Effectively inspire and coach a team of Risk Engineers and be able to deliver technically in General/Products Liability.
The role is home based but successful candidates will need to regularly travel domestically and overseas.

What will you be doing?
- Leadership: Provide strong leadership, coaching and technical mentoring to the Casualty risk engineering teams across Europe.
- Risk Assessment: Oversee the delivery of high-quality Casualty risk assessments and mitigation services. Maintain technical excellence in evaluating hazards across various industries and set cost-effective risk mitigation priorities for customers in coordination with their risk management teams.
- Technical guidance & Innovation: Act as the Senior Technical authority on Casualty risk matters, providing expert guidance on hazard control, safety management and regulatory compliance.
- Customer engagement: Support key customers and brokers with executive level risk engineering consultation.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Collaborate closely with underwriting and claims to integrate risk engineering insights into underwriting decisions.
- Regional oversight & performance: Oversee resource allocation and service delivery across Europe, monitor team KPIs and the quality of risk engineering services.
- Business development & thought leadership: Act as a visible thought leader in the industry, representing our Casualty risk engineering expertise at industry forums, conferences and with major clients. Stay current with emerging risks and trends and guide the team in developing new services or guidance to address these challenges.
What are we looking for?
- Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Risk Management or equivalent.
- Extensive technical expertise in Casualty Risk Engineering, preference for General and Product Liability expertise.
- Experienced people leader.
- Published thought leader.
- Stakeholder management.
- Excellent presentation and customer relationship skills and experienced at influencing and negotiation.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken) is required. Additional language skills relevant to Europe are advantageous give the broad geographic scope of the role.
