How does this role contribute to our collective success?
We are seeking a Duck Creek Claims Configurator to join to join our Business Technology Services (BTS) division, focusing on supporting claims operations and our claims value stream in a fast-paced Agile environment. This individual will play a crucial role in configuring and enhancing Duck Creek Claims systems, including creating and managing business rules, workflows, and data models. The Duck Creek Claims Configurator will work hands-on with technical teams to ensure the systems support efficient claims adjudication, payment processing, and compliance reporting. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Duck Creek Claims configuration, XML/XSLT/XPATH, and SQL database queries, and will drive solutions to improve system performance and meet business goals. This role will report to the CIO, Workplace Productivity, but will be responsible to the agile value stream team lead, ensuring alignment with our agile principles and goals.
What will you do in this role?
- Configure Duck Creek Claims systems, focusing on claims workflows, business rules, data models, and user interfaces.
- Apply deep knowledge of Duck Creek Claims, XSLT transforms, and SQL database queries to create solutions that enhance claims processing.
- Develop and maintain system configurations, working with both internal and external vendors.
- Work closely with Agile delivery teams to define configuration requirements, ensuring they align with sprint goals and business objectives.
- Participate in sprint planning sessions, assisting in defining deliverables and supporting configuration adjustments as necessary.
- Troubleshoot system performance issues, implement performance tuning, and ensure high availability and scalability.
- Support the optimization of claims cycle times by improving system processes and workflows.
- Ensure seamless integrations of Duck Creek Claims with other enterprise applications, proactively resolving integration challenges.
- Maintain and update all relevant system documentation, including configuration guides, user manuals, and technical specifications.
- Follow best practices for code management, ensuring code is versioned, tested, and documented.
- Partner with product owners, development leads, and business stakeholders to ensure the configuration meets business requirements.
- Lead and participate in code reviews to maintain quality and adherence to coding standards.
- Stay current on industry trends, system upgrades, and best practices related to Duck Creek Claims configuration.
- Promote a continuous learning mindset and encourage the adoption of new technologies and techniques within the team.

About You:

What you need to have:
- 3+ years of experience in configuring claims management systems, preferably Duck Creek Claims.
- 3+ years of experience in the property and casualty (PC) insurance industry, with a solid understanding of claims, underwriting, rating, insurance rules, and forms.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of Duck Creek Claims configuration, XML/XSLT/XPATH, and SQL database queries and procedures.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, or similar frameworks.
- Familiarity with Duck Creek Toolsets, such as Duck Creek Rating, Policy, and Billing, is a plus.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and optimizing system performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement solutions.

In this role, you will typically be required to:
Embrace the hybrid culture offered at AXIS, you need to be in office 3 days per week.
Much of the work involves using computers for data entry, analysis, and communication. Comfort with prolonged screen time is necessary.
While much of the work may be desk-bound, there might be occasions requiring mobility within the office environment, such as attending meetings or accessing filing systems.
