What the day will look like
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch data processing in a Kubernetes-hosted environment.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and DevOps teams to integrate data pipelines with microservices.
- Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka for reliable data ingestion and processing.
- Develop and optimise streaming data transformations using Spark and Python.
- Work with configuration-driven data processing systems to enable dynamic and reusable pipeline configurations.
- Ensure the quality, integrity, and reliability of data by implementing validation and monitoring systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines, streaming workflows, and infrastructure.
- Stay updated with the latest trends in data engineering and streaming technologies.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing, scripting, and automation.
- Knowledge of Apache Spark for large-scale data transformations and processing.
- Familiarity with Kafka for event-driven architectures and real-time data streaming.
- Understanding of Kubernetes for hosting and managing containerized applications.
- Experience with configuration-based input systems for pipeline flexibility and reusability.
- Basic understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data validation techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward learning and development
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their managed data services.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools.
- Knowledge of distributed systems and stream-processing frameworks like Flink.
- Exposure to monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack).
