Introduction
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain analytic applications that powers our organisation's data and analytical ecosystem. You'll be responsible for developing robust data pipelines, optimising data storage solutions, generating analytical insight and ensuring data availability and reliability across systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources
- Build and maintain data infrastructure components including databases, data lakes, and data warehouses
- Create and optimise analytics-focused data models that enable efficient reporting and insight generation
- Optimise data systems for performance, reliability, and scalability
- Implement data quality controls and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Support and enable others within the Data & Analytics functions in their utilisation of data engineering principles
- Create and maintain documentation for data systems and processes
- Troubleshoot and resolve data infrastructure issues
- Implement security protocols to protect sensitive data
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering
Competencies/Knowledge/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- Solid foundation of practical experience in data engineering
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
- Experience with SQL and database systems (relational and NoSQL)
- Experience with data pipeline tools and ETL frameworks (Airflow, Kafka, Spark, etc.)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services
- Understanding of data modelling concepts and techniques
- Experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines and understanding of CI/CD principle
