About the Role:
This role supports the FP&A LII UK & MENA Business Partners with the production of the actual results, financial plan and forecast as well as conducting key analysis to support the business for GRS, Lloyd’s and LII UK & MENA and contributing to the continuing development and improvement of the processes.
About the Department & Team:
Finance in Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) consists of circa 140 FTE and has a number of key roles:
- To partner the business to enhance decision making with a focus on strategy, planning, analysis and reporting. Support is provided both to the three management ‘Pillars’ – London, Reinsurance and International – and also to the supporting functions within LSM
- To ensure that all external financial reporting requirements (statutory, regulatory, tax, capital etc) are fulfilled. LSM consists of a Lloyd’s Syndicate, a UK insurance company with European branches, a number of small service companies and a portion of a US balance sheet
- To report to our US Parent on standard monthly requirements and ad-hoc requests on both a pillar and a legal basis
- To ensure superior management of our investments, cash and all financial risks
- To give finance operations support to the business and finance

Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively support London CFO and BP Managers with key business stakeholders and their direct reports defined by business areas or region.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the business areas under the team’s remit to ensure that monthly financial reporting is fully analysed and understood.
- Support the global products through building a network across GRS.
- Contribute to the day-to-day delivery of the month end and quarter end Pillar and Syndicate reporting processes (Actuals and Forecast) in accordance with the agreed timetable.
- Contribute to the provision of in-depth analysis of the Pillar’s and Syndicate results on a regular monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, as well as on an ad hoc basis as required through both an SBU and Legal Entity lens.
- Production and development of Financial Analysis and exhibits for Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Present and clearly explain financial analysis to senior stakeholders, often within very tight timescales.
- Provide key assistance in the business planning process; assisting BP Managers to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the business plan including SBF and any subsequent resubmissions, contributing to packs and commentaries to explain movements and supporting a full review of the numbers ahead of submission to the Board, external regulators and Global Risk Solutions.
- Support in co-ordinating collection and review of SBU and Syndicate business Plan inputs and ensure information is accurately recorded in the relevant planning systems, working closely with colleagues across LSM.
- Work with the team to review all areas of US GAAP plan/forecast with the aim of ensuring it is complete and as robust as possible from the “ground up”. Scope to include technical account and other profit and loss components, as well as non P&L areas (i.e. balance sheet and cash flow), and including review of calendarisation and balances/transactions with affiliates.
- Assist in the preparation of financial plan exhibits for communication to senior management.
- Support with analysis on ad hoc tasks, projects and other initiatives.

Skills and Experience:
- ACA/ CIMA/ACCA qualified
- Knowledge of US GAAP and UK GAAP
- Knowledge of Syndicate Reporting
- Good level of insurance accounting and industry knowledge
- Possess a high level of communication skills
- Proven self-starter
- Ability to work effectively as part of the wider finance team
- Ability to independently work through and resolve issues as they arise
- Experience working in a high pressured tight deadline driven environment
- Advanced excel skills
- Experience with Microsoft BI, SAP and Anaplan would be an asset
- Experience with more advanced data analysis and visualisation tools (SQL, R, Python, etc) is not required but would be an asset
