About the Role:
Situated within Everest’s Operations Department, this role is dedicated to providing expert coaching and support to a team of Underwriting Assistants across diverse insurance products, including Property, Casualty, Energy, Marine, and other specialty lines.
You will drive operational excellence by ensuring accurate data management, producing vital operational reports, and developing comprehensive procedure manuals. Additionally, this position focuses on delivering continuous improvement in productivity and customer satisfaction, implementing strategic process changes in response to regulatory and market reforms, and providing essential business systems support and training to enhance overall team performance.
This position will be based from our London office with a hybrid schedule of working two days remote each week.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Collaborate with Underwriting Operations Management to oversee daily business unit operations, ensuring robust control over underwriting, operational processes, and credit guidelines.
- Monitor systems and procedures to ensure alignment with Everest’s best practices and verify that underwriting support services meet defined quality standards and service level agreements.
- Drive operational efficiencies by implementing standardized systems and workflows, while managing process changes driven by market reforms, regulatory updates, or the adoption of best practices.
- Coordinate business and technical inputs for system change requests, including requirements gathering, project specifications, test plans, and the creation of procedural documentation.
- Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with international business units, offshore service partners, underwriting teams, and key stakeholders across the organization.
- Generate operational reports, metrics, and data analysis to support strategic decision-making and provide visibility to the Operations management team.
- Manage exception reports and resolve discrepancies promptly to maintain data integrity within Everest Underwriting Systems, specifically regarding premium estimates and exposures.
- Coach and empower the team on system usage, serving as the primary contact for training and troubleshooting to ensure Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants effectively utilize available tools and resources.
- Partner with management to support the professional development and performance review processes for Underwriting Assistants.
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience of working for a Lloyd’s Syndicate or London Company Market, ideally in an underwriting support or syndicate supervisor role.
- Knowledge of Underwriting Operations.
- Knowledge of some, or all, of the following classes of business is desirable; Property, Accident & Health, Financial & Professional Liability, Casualty, Marine, Energy Credit and Political Risk.
- Intermediate level of MS Office including Excel.
- Experience using Xchanging IRIS or other Lloyd’s underwriting systems.
- Use of Document Management & Workflow systems.
