The Chief Data Office (CDO) is responsible for maximizing the value and impact of data in a highly governed way. We enable the rest of the business to implement solutions that support the firm’s commercial goals by harnessing artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to develop new products, improve productivity, and enhance risk management effectively and responsibly.
The AI Governance Specialist will be responsible for designing and executing part of a comprehensive data & AI implementation roadmap and operating model. They will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and overseeing frameworks, policies, and controls to ensure the ethical, safe, and compliant use of AI systems within the commercial insurance sector.
This role ensures that AI initiatives align with regulatory requirements, corporate values, and business objectives while mitigating associated risks.
You’ll make an impact by:
Governance and Policy Development
- Develop and implement AI governance frameworks and policies tailored to commercial insurance operations.
- Define and monitor compliance requirements, considering industry regulations like GDPR, FCA guidelines, other global AI standards and existing corporate AI governance requirements.
Risk Management
- Identify and assess AI-related risks (e.g., bias, privacy, explainability) across the lifecycle of AI systems.
- Develop and maintain risk assessment models for evaluating AI systems used in underwriting, claims processing, fraud detection, etc.
- Implement controls and mitigations for AI risks, including periodic audits of AI models and data usage.
- Design a holistic governance structure and processes which link into the existing corporate governance structure.
Monitoring and Assurance
- Oversee the monitoring of AI system performance, accuracy, and fairness, ensuring alignment with governance standards.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of AI models and their outputs to identify and rectify any potential issues.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to provide visibility into AI governance and risk metrics.
Your skills and experience:
- Proven track record of leading AI/ML initiatives and governance within the financial or insurance
- Expertise in machine learning, data science, and AI technologies, including Python, R, other AI tools.
- Experience with insurance processes such as underwriting, pricing, claims management, and fraud detection.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business problems into AI-driven solutions.
- Experience managing AI model development and deployment at scale.
- Knowledge of actuarial principles and insurance-specific data analytics.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for AI/ML deployment.
- Certification in AI/ML, data science, or related fields.
- Familiarity with regulatory landscapes impacting AI in financial services (e.g., AI Act, FCA, GDPR).
