Location:Hybrid within the UK with the expectation for travel between Ageas offices.

As our Head of Underwriting Services & Fraud, you will play a central role in evolving our underwriting, fraud, reinsurance and governance capabilities for the “new world” post‑integration. You’ll create stability through leadership, establish momentum in times of change, and set the direction for what high‑performing central underwriting looks like in the years ahead.
This is a senior, highly influential role—ideal for someone who is energised by innovation, unafraid to challenge existing norms, and able to confidently represent their function at Board and Executive forums.
Main Responsibilities as Head of Underwriting Services & Fraud:
- Forge powerful, purpose‑led partnerships across the organisation, enabling innovative solutions that create meaningful value for both our customers and Ageas.
- Provide visionary leadership to the Underwriting function, inspiring teams to deliver our strategy with clarity, confidence, and a relentless focus on great customer outcomes.
- Champion a bold and coordinated approach to fraud prevention and detection, uniting teams behind a shared mission to protect our customers and our business.
- Serve as a trusted expert and advisor, empowering Underwriting and Claims with insight that shapes decisions, strengthens strategy, and drives positive change.
- Work closely with Data and Data Science teams to leverage AI, ML and emerging technologies, setting the long‑term strategy for advanced fraud detection.
- Lead the Reinsurance function with strategic thought and commercial rigour, securing programmes that strengthen our resilience and support sustainable growth.
- Oversee central Underwriting Risk and Governance, ensuring robust frameworks, high‑quality regulatory and Board reporting, and compliance with Consumer Duty.
- Drive meaningful progress by leading process, product and technical transformation, improving efficiency, fuelling innovation, and keeping Ageas ahead of market change.
Skills and experience you need as Head of Underwriting Services & Fraud:
- Exceptional and compassionate leadership experience, with an ability to set and execute strategies for long-term success.
- A track record of shaping and delivering operational or strategic improvement in a complex environment.
- Proven experience operating in a regulated landscape, with a strong grounding in financial services.
- Demonstrated sound commercial awareness and understanding of the UK competitive landscape.
- The ability to translate complex insight into clear strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Curiosity, commercial awareness, and the courage to innovate.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with experience influencing at senior/Board levels.
