How you'll make an impact
We are looking for a Build and Release Manager to support the planning and delivery of projects by coordinating activities, tracking progress, managing risks and dependencies, and maintaining accurate reporting. The role provides governance and administrative support, improves portfolio visibility, and enables project teams to focus on effective, timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with business stakeholders to analyse requirements and manage priorities
- Act as the primary liaison between Portfolio Management, business stakeholders, and IT delivery teams
- Own and maintain the central portfolio backlog and support prioritisation decisions
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and capacity planning
- Provide regular portfolio and operational reporting
- Align teams, manage dependencies, and support PMO governance activities
- Administer portfolio tooling (e.g. Planview), including project initiation, resourcing, tracking, and closure
- Plan and coordinate application releases with development teams, including scheduling, UAT, change management, and rollout support
- Provide early life support activities following releases
Position Specific Requirements:
- Experience supporting IT projects that include both application development and operational/support elements
- Working knowledge of project management practices, with a recognised qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation) or equivalent hands‑on delivery experience
- Familiarity with common software delivery lifecycles, including Agile and waterfall methodologies
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and engage confidently with business and senior stakeholders
- Well‑organised and detail‑focused, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, priorities, and deadlines concurrently
Advantageous to Have:
- Experience working within an IT portfolio, PMO, or central delivery function
- Exposure to portfolio or project management tools (e.g. Planview, Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project)
- Previous coordination experience across multiple teams or workstreams
- Understanding of resource planning, release coordination, or change management processes
- Experience supporting UAT, release planning, or post‑release activities
- Ability to quickly adapt to new tools, processes, and delivery models
- Confidence working in fast‑paced or changing environments
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
