About the Role:
This role will work with the Reinsurance Claims team to facilitate better MI reporting, data, and provision of insight and analytics ultimately driving better performance and decision making. The analyst will interrogate existing data, evaluate the acquisition of any potential external or not currently available data and develop an expert level understanding of claims processing and workflow. There will be a requirement to ensure that Claims data is suitable for use in any reporting solution and ensuring business understanding.
This role will focus on providing the MI service to Claims, in-line with the standards and methodologies implemented by the central MI function. This will be supported by fellow analysts in the Claims MI team reporting to the Analytics Manager, but will retain the responsibility of servicing the Reinsurance Claims team, in particular requirements gathering and training
About the Department & Team:
Claims MI is a part of the Reinsurance MI Department and is the key point of contact for Claims. As an Analytics team, we are focused on helping the business make the right decisions, using quality data. We care deeply about what we do, and about each other, and we strive to be experts in both Claims and the technology that we need to support our work.
The MI Department is a large team offering a comprehensive service on data, analytics and insights to the business. The team provides an excellent and inclusive culture designed to be supportive and help develop our analysts accordingly. We are a business facing team with a range of technical ability and business knowledge to help our integral function service our varied and many stakeholders. We encourage the team to work collaboratively and openly, and provide a platform for us to collectively deliver a key service to further Liberty’s effectiveness and decision making process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Reinsurance Claims function with data and analysis as the primary contact and data expert
- Collect and understand requirements for new Power BI reporting and deliver new reports
- Promote the use of data and the adoption of MI reporting within the wider Claims team
- Develop a culture of data driven decision making through training and education with the Reinsurance Claims team
- Support claims projects requiring data expertise
- Assist in resolving data issues
- Develop reinsurance business acumen and technical skills in Power BI, SQL, and Excel.
- Any other duties as is reasonably requested

Skills and Experience:
- Effectively interacts and communicates with clients and colleagues to understand what kind of information they need
- The ability to manage stakeholders and prioritise their requirements
- The ability to work in a small team, coach peers and add value
- Use of initiative to investigate data and propose to solutions
- Strong business data analysis skills with previous examples of insightful work
- An understanding of Reinsurance and the Claims function are beneficial
- Have an active interest in emerging technologies (ex: AI) and understanding new features that can be used to improve existing offerings
- Effectively uses and manipulates data from databases and I.T. systems to produce insights
- Experience in Power BI, SQL and Microsoft Excel
