Job overview:
We’re seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Implementation Lead to translate our ERM framework into an entity-specific model. This role involves leading the design, implementation and embedding of risk governance, processes, and controls, aligned with our business and risk profile. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a focus on establishing a robust risk management foundation to support transformation, effective decision-making and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end tailoring and implementation of an ERM framework, including governance, processes and operating model.
- Design and embed risk governance structures, roles, responsibilities and escalation routes in line with best practice.
- Develop and maintain risk taxonomy, risk library and assessment tools such as RCSA (risk and control self-assessment), ensuring coverage of current and emerging risks.
- Coordinate development of risk appetite statements, tolerances, KRIs (key risk indicators) and management information for effective risk monitoring.
- Own the design and implementation of controls, incident management, and remediation processes, including configuring risk management systems.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Operational Resilience and Third-Party Risk teams to integrate regulatory and operational risks.
- Produce insightful, forward-looking risk reports for senior management to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Support the transition from project delivery to sustainable BAU risk management practices, including capability development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Work arrangements:
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) from December 2026. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.
Your skills & experience:
- Extensive experience in enterprise or operational risk management and control, within a complex financial services environment is essential.
- Pensions or life insurance experience is preferred.
- Proven track record of designing, implementing or enhancing ERM frameworks and operating models.
- Hands-on experience with risk taxonomy, RCSA, risk appetite, tolerances, KRIs, controls, incidents and risk reporting.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to challenge and influence senior leaders and governance committees.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change projects, manage dependencies, and transition to BAU operational risk management.
- Technical expertise in ERM principles, risk identification, control design, incident management, and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to produce clear, concise documentation, dashboards, and governance papers for senior audiences.
- Relevant professional qualifications in risk management (IRM qualification) or related sectors are desirable.
