Job Title: Recruitment and Talent Consultant – Insurance
Salary: £40,000–£50,000 per annum, pro rata
Contract: Initial 3-month fixed-term contract
Location: Remote, with travel to London, Manchester and Birmingham for meetings and events as required
About the role
iCAN, the Insurance Cultural Awareness Network, is continuing to develop its talent offering across the insurance market, building on iCAN Apply and the work we already do connecting our members with opportunities across our sponsor community.
As part of that development, we’re looking for an experienced Recruitment and Talent Consultant – Insurance to join the team and help expand the recruitment support we provide to candidates and organisations across the market.
First and foremost, this is a recruitment role.
You’ll be proactively sourcing candidates, building talent pipelines, running detailed qualification conversations and managing candidates through insurance-sector recruitment processes.
But this is broader than a traditional brief-in, shortlist-out recruitment role.
Alongside live search delivery, you’ll work with the wider iCAN talent community through structured career and talent conversations, helping insurance professionals think through their next move, identify relevant opportunities and build stronger career pathways within the industry.
We want someone who can take an agreed brief and get moving. Someone who knows how to find people rather than simply wait for applicants, who can look beyond a strong CV to understand genuine capability and fit, and who builds meaningful candidate relationships as part of how they recruit.
As this area of iCAN’s talent offering develops, you’ll also help us strengthen our candidate pipelines, recruitment processes and ways of working, while building the relationships and market knowledge needed to support both candidates and organisations across the insurance market.
What you'll be doing
- Proactively sourcing candidates for insurance-sector recruitment assignments.
- Building and managing candidate pipelines from brief through to shortlist.
- Running detailed candidate qualification conversations that go well beyond CV matching.
- Assessing candidates against evidence, experience, motivation and the requirements of a particular role.
- Clearly articulating why candidates should or should not progress.
- Managing candidates through recruitment processes that may run over several months.
- Building and maintaining your own network of relevant insurance talent and market contacts.
- Holding structured career and talent conversations with members of the iCAN community.
- Helping members understand potential career routes, next steps and relevant opportunities within insurance.
- Supporting iCAN Apply by helping improve the quality and relevance of candidates engaging with sponsor vacancies.
- Maintaining accurate, up-to-date candidate and recruitment records.
- Supporting the wider team in client briefings and shortlist discussions.
- Contributing insight on the talent market, candidate trends and benchmarking.
- Applying inclusive recruitment practices that broaden access to relevant talent rather than relying on the same familiar networks.
- Helping us strengthen our recruitment processes, candidate pipelines and ways of working as this part of iCAN’s talent offering develops.
What you'll need
- Current, hands-on recruitment experience, with direct responsibility for sourcing and managing candidates.
- Strong experience building candidate pipelines through proactive search, not just managing inbound applicants.
- Experience managing multiple recruitment processes at the same time.
- The ability to run detailed candidate qualification conversations and assess capability, motivation and fit beyond what appears on a CV.
- A track record of building and maintaining your own candidate and market relationships.
- Strong candidate judgement and the confidence to explain and stand behind your recommendations.
- Excellent organisation, follow-through and attention to detail.
- Confidence working with experienced and senior professionals.
- The ability to hold useful career and talent conversations even where there is no immediate vacancy in play.
- A self-starting approach and confidence working in a new and evolving environment.
- A thoughtful, practical approach to inclusive recruitment.
Previous insurance recruitment experience is strongly preferred. However, we are also open to exceptional recruitment professionals from other complex or specialist markets who can demonstrate strong search capability, candidate judgement and the ability to learn a new sector quickly.
What this role isn't
This is not a new-business recruitment role.
Client acquisition, sponsor relationships and commercial ownership will remain with the existing iCAN leadership team.
Your focus will be on candidate search, recruitment delivery, talent relationships and building a strong network of insurance professionals across the market.
Why join iCAN?
iCAN has built a well-established community across the insurance market, focused on improving access, opportunity and career progression.
This is an opportunity to help shape the next stage of our talent offering, combining proactive recruitment with the relationships, market access and candidate community iCAN has developed over many years.
You’ll work closely with the core team and have genuine input into how our recruitment approach, candidate experience and wider talent offering develop.
The role begins as a three-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to extend and develop longer term depending on business need, the development of the offering and individual performance.
Additional Requirements
- Regular travel across the UK and occasional global travel will be required for events, client meetings, and workshops, and attendance will occasionally be required in evenings if events require it.
What is on offer?
- £40,000–£50,000 per annum, pro rata
- Pro-rata - 27 days holiday + bank holiday, with additional opportunities for paid time off
- Opportunities for Bonus based on performance
