Overview
We are seeking a talented Lead Machine Learning specialist to join our innovative team, based in Norwich and London. This is a fantastic opportunity to scale the impact of machine learning across Aviva, contributing to predictive modelling solutions that drive real business value.
About the Role
In this high-profile role within our Machine Learning Team, you will:
- Drive Innovation – Use your research skills to solve impactful business challenges with cutting-edge tools and technology.
- Deploy Solutions – Ensure that insights and machine learning models are implemented effectively to create tangible business outcomes.
- Leverage Your Expertise – Support and train both the wider data science team and non-technical stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment.
You’ll join a highly experienced team recognised as a centre of excellence within Aviva’s global data science community, backed by the UK’s largest insurer investing in data science as a core capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy machine learning solutions to address critical business problems.
- Drive research and innovation to improve Aviva’s predictive modelling.
- Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of ML projects.
- Support and mentor junior data scientists in the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Analyse and interpret data to provide actionable insights for key business decisions.
Skills & Experience Required
We’re looking for a skilled professional with the following attributes:
- Numeracy Skills: Degree-level qualification in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Maths, Computer Science).
- Data Science Fundamentals: Proficient in data preparation, feature engineering, and model validation.
- Machine Learning Expertise: Deep understanding of ML algorithms and technologies.
- Programming Skills: Fluent in Python or R, with experience building best-practice ML pipelines.
- Research & Development: Proven experience in identifying, proposing, and delivering impactful machine learning projects.
