Job Description
Canopius is a global specialty lines (re)insurer. We are one of the leading insurers in the Lloyd’s of London insurance market with offices in the UK, US, Singapore, Australia and Bermuda.
Our Claims Vision is to continually push the boundaries of customer excellence through an empowered, collaborative and innovative approach to claims. We aim to be the envy of the market.
Canopius is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to help analyse and improve Claims MI reporting and processes, ensuring high-quality data drives decision-making and performance improvements. This role involves identifying insights and trends to enhance claims efficiency and outcomes, while supporting a robust understanding of claims performance metrics. Collaborating with colleagues in the Claims function will be critical to success, working with a broad range of stakeholders across Product and Business Units. This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the infancy of their career in the insurance who is looking to utilise their analytical skills and gain valuable experience in claims data analysis and performance management.
We are primarily seeking an individual with the motivation, drive and enthusiasm to deliver excellence in everything we do, from a claims MI perspective. We can promise a diverse range of tasks, working in a highly collaborative claims team committed to delivering our Claims Vision.
- Maintain Power BI dashboards to track and visualise KPIs, integrating data from Excel and Canopius’ new internal data warehouse.
- Work closely with the Claims Data & MI Manager to identify any drivers adversely impacting key claim metrics, such as response time, lifecycle times, incomplete transactions and static claims.
- Produce and distribute weekly claims movement reports and monthly product line reports, delivering comprehensive insights into claims portfolio statistics and key trends.
- Collaborate with the data team to modernise and automate parts of the claims MI reporting processes, with particular focus on the new Insights Analytics platform.
- Oversee the internal claims peer review process, including task assignment, response collation, and analysis, to identify trends and highlight areas of adverse performance and target improvements.
- Provide support for regulatory requirements, including CAT returns, audit preparations, and reviews by Lloyd's and the FCA, ensuring compliance and timely submission of all necessary documentation.
- Co-chair the monthly claims operations meeting, engaging key claims stakeholders to review performance, discuss initiatives, and drive alignment on operational priorities and strategic goals.
- Proactively participate in future projects, contributing insights, expertise, and innovative solutions to support the evolution and continuous improvement of claims operations and reporting.
- Support the enhancement of claims operations presence in the US and APAC regions by addressing their data requirements and providing tailored insights, to ensure a truly global claims operations function.
- Collaborate proactively with the claims team to understand and support their data requirements and strategic priorities.
- Supporting the wider Claims Operations team in proactively managing and addressing any ad hoc queries or requirements from either internal or external stakeholders.
Candidates should ideally have experience working within the insurance industry, particularly within an operational role. Emphasis will be placed on candidates who possess strong expertise in handling data. Candidates will have key personal skills including:
- Proficiency in Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and other data tools, with a natural curiosity for analysing and interpreting data.
- An interest in Insurance and the Lloyds market.
- A positive, enthusiastic, and confident individual with a proactive attitude toward solving problems.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team player.
- Focused on delivering the highest quality service and maintaining a customer-oriented mindset.
- A forward-thinking approach with the ability to help modernise claims MI and embrace new technologies.
- Open, honest, warm, and respectful communication skills to foster strong relationships.
- A self-starter attitude with a commitment to professional growth and development.
- Strong organisational skills to prioritise tasks effectively and proactively meet deadlines.
- Willingness to take responsibility, act with honesty, integrity, and fairness in all actions.
