Cloud Platform Architect
The role of Platform Architect is wide ranging, including infrastructure centric aspects of Cloud Architecture and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and joining these up to facilitate the optimisation of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) with concrete architectural principles, standards, designs and tooling.
Key to driving our technology strategy forwards you will work closely with our teams across IT to build and continually improve capabilities that drive pace of change, and enable the business to test new products, pricing & ideas rapidly out in the marketplace.
About the role
Within the role you will be expected to negotiate, curate and oversee standards for the platform used by Software Engineering teams. You will be the owner and gain consensus for target state architecture for our cloud based proprietary technology and be able to identify what increments and opportunities will get us to target state for the platform.
This person will also:
- Work closely with Platform teams and Development teams to ensure that Platform products are fit for purpose and continually improving. You will also support them with tactical decision making.
- Oversee policies and repositories of platform user guidance. You will do this coordinating with the Security, Architecture and Infrastructure teams to ensure alignment and adherence to standards
- Keep up to date with new opportunities and assist teams with choosing which technologies we should investigate and introduce.
About you
The ideal candidate for this role will:
- Have experience in designing and managing complex cloud environments in Azure
- Experience with microservices architecture, container orchestration and serverless solutions
- Hands on experience with cloud cost management and optimization.
