We are looking for a Class Manager - who will Lead and direct Tech E&O and Cyber as a product through both Specialty and Commercial Business units.
The class manager is accountable for UW appetite, governance and technical guidelines along with monoline specialty business results. Works in collaboration with Middle Market business unit to deliver strategy and results through industry specialisation. Works with the highest level of authority with matrix reporting across Commercial and Speciality, and with the US.
Day to day management of the UK Specialty Cyber and Technology E&O team, whilst collaborating with Industry specialist practice leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides expert level technical oversight to ensure business is written in accordance with appetites, authorities and will achieve target loss and expense ratios.
- Develops market leading products and services to drive profitable growth and position CNA as a top quartile performer.
- Collaborates with claims, risk control and actuarial to ensure knowledge sharing on latest trends, and changes in underwriting strategy. Regularly interacts with internal and external business partners and stakeholders within CNA.
- Provides governance and oversight to cyber aggregation across the International segment, ensuring we are within the tolerances set.
- Leads a team of London Speciality underwriters
- Coach, lead and develop underwriters and direct the development of underwriting training
- Develop and implement appetite, guidelines, production, profitability and operating plans for enhancing the business and meeting strategic objectives across product and industry specialism
- Builds a high performing technical team with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction.
- Analyses and manages human capital to drive increased efficiency and productivity; acts as a liaison to underwriting leadership on critical business issues and drives corporate priorities within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Drives high performance culture through leading by example and setting the tone for the organisation.
- Drives a superior customer experience and continuous improvement through the development and implementation of corporate initiatives involving human capital, processes and technology.
- Builds and develops strong relationships with distribution partners – brokers, MGAs/MGUs, cover holders, insurance companies, etc. Positions CNA as top quartile performer.
- Builds strong and collaborative relationships between the underwriting teams.
- Drives operational improvement and underwriting effectiveness through use of data and MI reporting
- Maintain current knowledge on geographic issues and regulations, industry activity and trends.
- Represent the company in industry trade groups.
- Responsible for product wording governance, in conjunction with legal
- Completing the Lloyd’s cyber returns
- Working with reinsurers
- Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the role and ensure that appropriate measures are in place to deliver the activities of the function in compliance with local law and regulation. Holds regulatory accountability for underwriting as a Senior Manager.
- Represents CNA in industry trade groups.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Proven track record of delivery in the relevant market and product class
- High level of technical knowledge around relevant products and markets
- Existing network of market relationships
- Mastery of insurance principles (legal, operations, practices and procedures) and broad understanding of the critical issues in other related areas in particular underwriting risk and financial management principles
- Strategic leadership and people management
- Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence (external and/or internal relationships), team, and/or matrix environment.

Education & Experience
- Master's degree or equivalent experience with professional certifications preferred.
- Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience with demonstrated proficiency in required skills and abilities and seven years of management experience.
