Are you ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role in litigation? Join Strata Solicitors, Gallagher Bassett’s in-house law firm, as a Litigation Handler/Defendant Litigator, where you’ll manage your own caseload of litigated Defendant motor claims for our self-insured corporate and insurer clients.
Based in Tamworth, with occasional travel to Northampton, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of claims, including RTA, credit hire, and small track claims. You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional client outcomes, leveraging your expertise in litigation and claims handling to achieve the best results.

How you'll make an impact
In this role, you’ll manage a caseload of litigated Defendant motor claims from issue to trial, ensuring compliance with client service level agreements and key performance indicators. Your responsibilities will include:
- Defending litigated motor claims on behalf of large corporates, including RTA, credit hire, and small track claims.
- Assessing liability and setting and maintaining reserves in line with client service level agreements.
- Investigating the merits of third-party claims and negotiating settlements via telephone and correspondence with third parties, insurers, and solicitors.
- Valuing credit hire claims and applying the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant Authorities to achieve the best client outcomes.
- Ensuring full compliance with office protocols, client service level agreements, and financial regulations.
- Maintaining 100% data integrity compliance on the office case management system for all handled claims.
- Supporting the litigation team to achieve and maintain compliance with all office protocols and client expectations.
- Delegating and supervising appropriate tasks to Claims Administration Assistants.
About You
Here’s what you’ll bring to the role:
Essential:
- A Law degree and LPC qualification.
- Demonstrable self-motivation and initiative.
- The ability to work independently within a defined structure and collaborate effectively with peers and managers.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Experience in handling personal injury claims.
- Experience in RTA, credit hire, and litigation.
