Broking Manager – London Property - UK Retail Team

Aon is currently recruiting a Broking Manager To lead and deliver high‑quality broking services for Property Damage and Business Interruption (PDBI) clients.
You will be acting as a specialist point of contact for client teams, optimising market engagement and insurer relationships, and ensuring placements are conducted in line with Aon’s strategy, procedures and regulatory requirements across all the UK Retail business segments – Global and Speciality, Corporate & SME.

What the day will look like
Client & Placement Management:
- Act as a key point of contact within the broking team for designated PDBI clients, providing specialist technical advice to clients and internal client teams.
- Understand clients’ PDBI coverage needs; collect and analyse risk information to identify appropriate risk transfer solutions and programme structures.
- Advise clients and colleagues on available PDBI coverage and capacity, potential enhancements, and relevant market developments.
- In conjunction with client service teams, identify and approach suitable insurers for specific PDBI risks, considering appetite, capacity and strategy, and broker/place risks in line with Aon’s UK Retail strategy and broking procedures.
- Negotiate optimal terms, conditions and pricing for clients and provide clear, professional recommendations on insurer options.
- Review and quality check insurance documentation to ensure selected products accurately reflect clients’ PDBI coverage requirements.
- Contribute to client satisfaction, retention and profitability by supporting business development initiatives as directed.
Insurer & Market Relationships:
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key PDBI underwriters and insurer contacts, working with Aon colleagues and insurer relationship leads to resolve performance issues and improve service.
- Provide and share up‑to‑date PDBI market intelligence (including insurer appetite, differentiators and emerging trends) and contribute to insurer/market intelligence databases.
- Support insurer selection in line with agreed business plans, manage internal expectations around PDBI market conditions, and work to resolve contentious placing issues and disputes.
Team Leadership & People Management:
- Lead and manage the broking team (or allocated segment), providing direction, coaching and support to ensure effective delivery of PDBI broking services.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, taking ownership of insurer-related issues and supporting colleagues with day-to-day broking queries.
- Oversee the quality of broking submissions and insurer selection, intervening where appropriate to improve content, structure and presentation.
- Work with the Broking Director to develop and maintain succession plans for roles within the team.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure the broking team operates in line with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management framework, BiPar, Market Security and other compliance requirements, identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Lead by example on regulatory and business procedure compliance, ensuring staff awareness and adherence, encouraging escalation of non‑conformances, completing mandatory training and contributing to risk identification and management.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills, with a track record of securing competitive terms for clients.
- Appropriate technical knowledge of commercial insurance lines, with demonstrable expertise in Property Damage and Business Interruption (PDBI) insurance.
- Previous experience in broking, with proven delivery in a similar commercial lines role (ideally PDBI‑focused).
- Analytical and logical approach to assessing risk information and structuring PDBI programmes.
- Proficient in the use of insurance industry IT systems and standard Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience in leading and/or managing a team, including coaching and developing colleagues.
- Demonstrates integrity and professionalism, inspiring trust and respect from colleagues, clients and the insurance market.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, while also being able to work independently and manage own workload and deadlines.

- Studying towards or willingness to study towards ACII (or equivalent professional qualification).
