The Opportunity
Due to an Internal Promotion, We are currently hiring for a Senior Underwriter to be based in our Manchester office to play a key role in underwriting a broad range of complex commercial insurance risks, driving profitable growth, and building strong broker partnerships. This is an opportunity for an experienced underwriting professional to apply their technical expertise, commercial judgement, and market knowledge while contributing to the success of a high-performing underwriting team.
What You'll Be Doing
Risk Assessment & Underwriting: Review and assess complex submissions, applying underwriting authority, company guidelines and technical expertise to determine risk acceptability and structure solutions.
Pricing & Portfolio Management: Develop appropriate pricing strategies through financial and market analysis, ensuring profitable underwriting outcomes and portfolio performance.
Broker Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, providing quotations, managing negotiations, and delivering excellent service to support business growth.
Market Development & Business Growth: Represent CNA Hardy within the broker market, promoting our products and services, identifying opportunities, and supporting profitable new business acquisition.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Share knowledge across the underwriting team, mentor colleagues where appropriate, and collaborate with senior stakeholders on complex or high-value risks.
What We're Looking For
Underwriting Expertise: Strong technical underwriting knowledge with experience assessing and managing complex commercial insurance risks.
Commercial Acumen: The ability to evaluate risk, identify opportunities, make sound business decisions, and balance growth with profitability.
Relationship Building Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the confidence to engage effectively with brokers and internal stakeholders.
Problem Solving & Adaptability: A proactive mindset with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a changing environment.
Regulatory & Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of relevant insurance regulations, market developments and underwriting best practices.
