Purpose of the role:
To develop new and existing business and to underwrite AIG’s SME Commercial Package and Combined business in line with agreed business financial targets and metrics.
The role will involve case underwriting and handling referrals, developing new and managing existing business sources, Portfolio Management at the broker/MGA level, Project management and involvement in new product development and growth initiatives as well as developing our company underwriting standards and philosophies.
Accountabilities for the role:
- Key broker / scheme account management including conducting portfolio reviews to drive profitable growth or where required, remediate performance.
- Handle underwriting referrals from a range of brokers, schemes and MGA’s across various different underwriting platforms.
- Work as part of a team to provide excellent underwriting service to our clients and to act as an internal referral point for staff with lower underwriting authority.
- Establish and develop relationships with key brokers and internal stakeholders.
- Become a subject matter expert on the Acturis trading platform and support product development initiatives.
- Continually look for new ways to improve the service and product and support change initiatives through to completion. Be proactive and self-motivated in implementing change.
- Work within agreed decision-making standards, limitations and authorities.
- Comply with key regulatory and risk management responsibilities.

Experience & Qualifications Required:
- A strong Commercial Underwriting background at Company or MGA / UW Agency level.
- Experience in SME Package and Commercial Combined preferred.
- Capable of handling commercial underwriting referrals from brokers/MGA’s and junior staff with past experience of handling SME and Property and Casualty business preferred.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
- Highly numerate with ability to analyse MI and Portfolio performance data and make recommendations to improve or optimise performance.
- Ability to work across multiple projects and work streams at any one time and prioritise accordingly is highly valued.
- Competent in Microsoft office and capable of learning new underwriting and e-trade platforms.
