Overview
Gallagher are seeking Mid Market / Corporate Underwriters to join our Charity & Healthcare Division based in Birmingham.
The roles focuses on underwriting and servicing existing accounts. Using sound judgement, industry knowledge and the internal guidance and framework provided to handle renewals and respond to mid-term adjustments and queries. Providing a solid contribution to the team.
How you'll make an impact
- Working with the Lead Underwriters to ensure the Corporate and Mid Market sub teams deliver their financial targets
- Handling a book of defined existing Charity Commercial Combined business competently within own underwriting licence, premium ranging from £7,500 upwards
- Working with the other Underwriters as a team to successfully handle our Corporate / Mid Market Affinity schemes
- Taking personal ownership of and being responsible for ensuring own renewal retention, cross sell and organic growth targets are met contributing to the Corporate / Mid Market’s sub team’s financial results. The role does not involve handling any New Business.
- Preparing and submitting well thought out referrals on risks that fall outside own authority to either Lead Underwriter, Charity Underwriting Renewals Manager, Charity Underwriter Director and/or the Insurers providing capacity to the Charity Underwriting Division as appropriate
- Working with the Charity Underwriting Operations Manager to ensure Division’s Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times within the Corporate sub team and handled within Service Standards
- Attending broker meetings with the Lead Underwriter, Charity Underwriting Renewals Manager, Charity Underwriter Director as appropriate

Technical Knowledge:
- Demonstrates an understanding of Commercial Combined business, principally Property and Casualty
- Knowledge of underwriting principles and rating methods
- Knows how underwriting tools are used to inform the decision making process
Qualifications:
- Chartered Insurance Institute qualification - Dip CII (desirable)
