Role Description
Allianz Pet (AzPet) is now entering the next stage of development and is looking to achieve major growth with a ‘supercharged’ Petplan and an expanded LV= pet portfolio strategy to achieve a £1b GWP. The AzPet portfolio has been identified for ‘unconstrained growth’ and will deploy significant marketing spend in 2025 as well as looking to expand distribution. A focus on topline tails in force combined with profitable growth will require the Director of Trading to:
- Play a key leadership role, to shape AzPet strategic objectives and commercial targets for the Direct distribution channels.
- Focus on volume sales and GWP to deliver rapid profitable growth delivering financial results across existing and new acquisition channels.
- Lead the Pet Partnership Distribution, Marketing, Proposition, Customer Experience, CRM, and Optimisation functions to deliver a single aligned customer funnel approach.
- Effectively drive and manage ‘transformational and BAU change’, constructively challenging the status quo and championing new and innovative ideas.
- Champion the end-to-end customer experience to ensure good customer outcomes are achieved whilst delivering growth, margin, expense, and profit laid out in the business plan.
- Create, promote, and sustain a high-performance culture through coaching and development.
Key Accountabilities
- A key member of the Specialty leadership team, providing thought leadership and strategic insight to shape and deliver commercial plans and growth, achieve long term profitability, and support positive customer and brand outcomes.
- Develop and deliver a ‘blended’ acquisition strategy across core partnership introducer channels, paid/organic direct channels, and new distribution opportunities for Pet.
- Develop an end-to-end B2B introducer strategy to protect Petplan’s core heartland distribution competitive advantage.
- Develop Petplan’s consumer acquisition strategy across the full marketing mix with a culture of continuous optimisation.
- Support an insight led culture through enabling the adoption of Systems Thinking methodology across wider AzPet business to continuously improve with customers and employees at our heart.
- Unify, refocus, and galvanise the team. Develop talent, effectively coach, and inspire a high performing team.
About You

- Demonstrable technical expertise of full marketing mix B2C and B2B with extensive deployment at a strategic level. Full mix experience:
- Branding, proposition development, promotion, digital media, TV advertising/ sponsorship etc…
- Strong understanding of market research and data analytics methods
- Proven ability to deliver strategic change and contribute to wider group initiatives.
- Understanding of the regulatory environment, lobby or influencing the wider business in which the business operates
- Should have relevant financial sector and pet experience with an understanding of the veterinary landscape and empathy with pet ownership. A passion for pets is essential!
