Team Overview:
Everest International Insurance, a member of Everest Group, is recruiting for a Wording Specialist to support our international business expansion across all Property and Casualty and Group Accident and Health lines of business.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join Everest’s International Wordings team in a period of rapid international expansion. Reporting into the Wordings Counsel, International, you will join the growing Wordings team in servicing all of our International offices in their commercial insurance product development.
You can be based in either London, Dublin, Paris, Madrid or Dusseldorf, with the flexibility to work from home two days per week. Ad hoc travel may be required.
Role Purpose:
A fantastic position for anyone with a passion for drafting insurance coverage, and the ambition to create products from scratch; you will be responsible for working with numerous business functions to create proprietary Policy Wordings and Endorsements across Everest’s Property and Casualty and Group Accident and Health insurance lines of business to support our international business expansion. You will also be involved in conducting policy reviews in addition to negotiating and advising on insurance coverage.
Key Accountabilities:
- In partnership with the respective lines of business, research, draft and review Policy Wordings and Endorsements for Everest International Insurance across all Property and Casualty and Group Accident and Health lines of business. Support with the localisation of Policy Wordings and Endorsements internationally.
- Support and advise lines of business with the development and analysis of coverage.
- Conduct reviews of proprietary, broker and competitor Policy Wordings including ad hoc reviews of manuscript Policy Wordings and/or Endorsements as required.
- Liaise among the respective line of business and Legal, Claims, Chief Underwriting Officer and Compliance functions to ensure that Policy Wordings and Endorsements meet each of those departments’ requirements.
- Manage external legal firms and translation firms internationally and ensure vendors provide timely and quality work. Review vendor invoices.
- Drive wording clarity, consistency and conformity and maintain and update manuscript policy checklists to ensure that Policy Wordings and Endorsements match Everest’s underwriting intent.
- Update the Policy Wordings Library.
- In conjunction with line of business leaders, engage and participate in meeting with brokers and/or clients to develop Policy Wordings and Endorsements.
- Assist with and deliver training and thought leadership to the Business.
Professional Experience:
- Law degree or substantial proven experience drafting legal contracts with technical knowledge of the insurance law of your respective location;
- Proven experience within the insurance industry, and knowledge of technical drafting ;
- Strong background in commercial Property and/or Casualty Insurance;
- Technical insurance industry knowledge.
- Legally qualified solicitor or barrister in either England & Wales, Ireland, France, Spain or Germany preferred;
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills. Spanish, German, or French are not required, but a plus;
- Candidates with experience across multiple jurisdictions preferred.
