General
Job Title: Catastrophe Analyst
Division: Exposure Management
Reports To: As per Beazley’s organisation chart
Key Relationships: Exposure Management Team, Portfolio Underwriting Division, Property Risks Treaty Underwriters and Underwriter assistants, Other Staff
Job Summary: To provide support to the Portfolio Underwriting Division & Treaty Underwriting team, within the Property Risks Division, specifically preparing exposure data for modelling in third party & in-house catastrophe models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Catastrophe modelling using Moody’s RMS and AIR, at a portfolio and individual account level.
- Capturing, monitoring and reporting of aggregates using applicable Exposure Management software.
- Pricing, pure premium and return period losses on an individual account level at quotation.
- Maintain current RMS portfolio databases for key territories.
- Production of RDS event losses and probabilistic loss numbers for different stakeholders both internally & externally.
- Prepare aggregate and loss estimates for business plan and Reinsurance purposes
- Keep up-to-date with current tools, technologies and techniques, to ensure best practice is applied to Beazley developments.
- Prepare and provide statistics and information in order to serve the requirements of the underwriters and clients.

- Liaise with Exposure Management team and respective underwriters.

- Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager, the Culture & People development or assurance teams (Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit) and ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas. This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management
- Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system
- Provide professional service in person, by email, telephone, video call, etc.
- Produce ad hoc reports for the underwriters and other members of staff when requested
Personal Specification:
Education and Qualifications
- Educated to ‘A’ Level or equivalent
Skills and Abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong command of MS Excel 2016 or 365
- Other MS Office and general computer knowledge
- Able to communicate effectively with others, both verbal and written
- Able to self-start, manage own time and prioritise work
- Database skills – experience of SQL Server Management Studio desirable but not required
