Job Description: Head of International Insurance Premium Accounting
How does this role contribute to our collective success?
The primary responsibilities of this role are to lead the International Insurance Premium Accounting Cash teams (bureau and non-bureau) as well as the Credit Control team to ensure cash is recorded accurately and timely and overdue Premium Receivables are kept to a minimal. Additional responsibilities for monthly and quarterly reporting for Senior Management and Finance and communications with internal and external customers for AXIS’ International Insurance Business.
What will you do in this role?
- Ensure all non-bureau cash is recorded accurately and timely and that proper controls are in place to tie out cash received.
- Ensure all bureau/syndicate cash is recorded accurately and timely and that proper controls are in place.
- Management of premium receivables with the goal of keeping overdue premium receivables to a minimum. This will also include the following:
- Improvements in over 90 premium receivables
- Improved reporting to brokers and underwriting teams
- Process improvements in collection follow up process.
- Clean up of historical data.
- Review processes across the teams for additional efficiencies utilizing Infosys – lead transition of processes.
- Monthly reporting to management on various areas of the teams – including premium receivable and premium suspense balances.
- Final review and sign-off for Divisional reporting and attend Divisional meetings for all International Premium Accounting teams.
- Work with Finance on refining the premium receivable reconciliation process and identifying areas that are driving reconciling items to work towards changes in processing – including cleaning up prior reconciling items and coordinating clean-up efforts across the team.
- Enhance and develop relationships with UW leads.
- Enhance and develop relationships with key brokers.
- Assist with ad hoc tasks within the team where appropriate.
- Limited travel as needed.

About You:

What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 10 years insurance industry experience, preferably with experience in Premium Accounting and experience in the London market including working with Lloyd’s
- Experience leading and developing a cross-functional team.
- Prior BPO management experience a plus
- Analytical skills and ability to dig into details.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of related automated financial systems.
- Demonstration of strong software skills including Excel, Access, and Outlook
