Job Description: Financial Reporting Accountant
How does this role contribute to our collective success?
The role will help AXIS to support the significant Regulatory, Board Governance and Management Information reporting associated with the operation of Syndicates 1686, 2050 and all other Lloyd’s and UK legal entities.
Part of an existing and experienced financial reporting team, the role will help to prepare financial information and reports.
This role will have high exposure to the complex and changing nature of Lloyd’s regulatory, capital, and statutory reporting. It will help to ensure that the existing financial reporting framework results in high quality, timely, accurate and well controlled downstream reporting.
Given the wide-ranging scope of Lloyd’s reporting, governance, planning, and capital requirements covered by the team, the role offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to continue a successful career in the London Insurance Market.
The successful candidate will gain a broad and detailed understanding of the Lloyd’s landscape for both the Syndicates and supporting legal entities including Corporate Members and Managing Agent.
What will you do in this role?
- Support the maintenance and adherence to the reporting, control and risk environment associated with both Lloyd’s and UK legal entity reporting
- Preparation and maintenance of Lloyd’s regulatory reporting (including UK GAAP, Solvency II, Ultimate Forecasts & Overseas reporting) and associated internal processes, procedures, controls, and timetables
- Preparation and review of regulatory reporting materials and analytics presentations in support of review, sign off and submission procedures
- Analysis and review of supporting ledgers, reporting cubes and account level information
- Preparation and review of governance Committee and Board materials and analytics as well as presentations in support of local governance forums and roles
- Support the engagement with Lloyd’s, external auditors and other key stakeholders and functions across the business
- Support the Lloyd’s controllers to ensure reporting / control environment remains fit for purpose and changes with requirements over time
- Assisting in the control of offshored processes
- Working with multiple functions across AXIS to support the above deliverables, including but not limited to Actuarial, Investments, Treasury, Ceded operations, Finance, Tax, Legal and Risk

About You:

What you need to have:
- Appropriate prior insurance accounting experience
- Completion of relevant financial qualifications (e.g. ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Experience with financial systems and business intelligence software
- Proficient Excel skills – able to use Lookups, Pivot Tables, SUMIF statements etc.
- Team player, with good interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross functional teams
- Independent individual with ‘Can do’ attitude and commitment to delivery, able to work under pressure
- Ability to make decisions, solve problems and seek support from management team at the right juncture
- Excellent written and verbal communication required
What we prefer you to have:
- Insurance accounting and Lloyd’s Market professional experience and knowledge
- Lloyd’s existing business as usual reporting – QMA, QMB, QSR etc.
- Experience of offshoring preferable but not essential
Role Factors:
In this role, you will typically be required to be in the office two to three days a week. Days and frequency may vary depending upon external audit reporting requirements.
The role requires that individuals can work with teammates to meet fixed reporting deadlines. This may require high levels of availability during specific reporting periods.
