About the Role:
- To help achieve our vision of being a leading provider of commercial claims solutions, delivering a first-class claims handling and management service.
- Managing and resolving claims efficiently and fairly in accordance with the Claims Charter/Code of Conduct and Claims Process Guidelines.
- Working closely with the Head of First Party Claims to deliver corporate goals whilst promoting LSM’s core values. The role will require provision of strong technical support and sound claims handling judgement to specialists across certain 1st Party lines to ensure outstanding customer service at all times.
- Supporting at and leading meetings with Internal and External Stakeholders
About the Department & Team:
- Liberty’s First Party Specialty Markets Claims department handle claims through all stages from initial notification to conclusion including analysis of new notifications, coverage, liability and quantum, establishing and monitoring appropriate reserves and making claims payments as required, as well as assessing potential recoveries from third parties
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively supervising and handling of a cross section of 1st Party claims from first advice to closure, investing the necessary level of expertise required to investigate coverage, liability, quantum and strategy aspects of a file
- Follow at all times applicable claims reserving philosophy and claims standards with appropriate referral
- Oversee and ensure claims are triaged appropriately, and handled in accordance with the LSM Claims Charter/Code of Conduct and Claims Guidelines
- Liaising closely with relevant stakeholders throughout the life cycle of the claim. For example the policyholder, broker and co-insurers, actuaries and underwriters.
- Measuring compliance with best practice, service and communication through system reporting and internal file audits
- Ensuring compliance with approved Panel list including provision of direction to external lawyers and adjusters
- Working with underwriters and business development managers in order promote good working practices and relationships with clients.
- First point of contact for any customer complaints relating to the team and ensuring these are handled efficiently in accordance with LSM Conduct Policy
- Promote good file maintenance and record keeping within the team.
- Promote the LSM Claims Charter and Code of Conduct delivering excellence in client service.
- Works closely with / reporting in to the Head of First Party Claims

Skills and Experience:
- Technical experience and record of claim handling specifically in International Property D&F industry sectors.
- Requires advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, IT and product competition within the marketplace.
- Proven record of maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to make decisions and exhibit sound and reasoned judgment and/or escalate as necessary
- Competent organizational, interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Competent analytical and oral/written presentation skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Self-motivated and dynamic
- Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to motivate, develop and mentor more junior team members for the benefit of the individual and the Company.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Experience of data analysis.
