The opportunity
As Head of Privacy, you will lead the global privacy, responsible data and AI ethics agenda across QBE. This is a pivotal senior role shaping how we protect trust, enable innovation and embed privacy‑by‑design and ethical AI practices across a complex, international organisation.
About QBE
At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.
We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.
What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.
Your new role
Reporting into the Group Chief Privacy Officer, this role is the operational and strategic engine of QBE’s global privacy and trustworthy AI program. You will translate strategy into action, partner closely with senior leaders across data, technology and AI, and ensure consistent, pragmatic management of privacy and ethical data risks across the Group.
You will play a critical leadership role in enabling innovation while maintaining strong governance, regulatory readiness and customer trust.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing global leadership and oversight of privacy, responsible data use and AI ethics governance, aligned to regulatory expectations and QBE’s risk appetite
- Embedding privacy‑by‑design, ethical design and responsible AI principles into data, analytics and AI initiatives across the Group
- Partnering with Technology, Data, AI and business leaders to assess and manage privacy, ethical and regulatory risks in AI‑enabled and automated decision‑making
- Shaping and overseeing privacy and ethics considerations across AI model development, procurement, deployment and third‑party arrangements
- Driving consistency, maturity and uplift in privacy risk management through clear frameworks, guidance and pragmatic guardrails
- Acting as a trusted advisor and central connector across divisional DPOs, senior stakeholders and governance forums globally
About you
You are a seasoned privacy leader with deep global privacy expertise and a strong point of view on responsible data and AI. You are commercially minded, collaborative and confident operating in complex environments — able to balance regulatory rigour with practical, business‑enabling solutions.
You bring credibility, influence and a customer‑first mindset, and are passionate about building trust through ethical, transparent and well‑governed use of data and AI.
Key requirements:
- Deep expertise across global privacy regulation, risk management and emerging trends
- Strong experience in data ethics, responsible AI and governance of advanced analytics or AI‑enabled use cases
- Proven ability to translate complex regulatory and ethical expectations into clear, pragmatic guidance
- Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders across technology, data, AI, legal and risk functions
- Experience uplifting privacy maturity and operating models in large, complex organisations
- Leadership experience developing teams and fostering strong, collaborative culture
