The Opportunity
QBE is hiring an Underwriter to join our Financial Lines team, specialising in D&O underwriting. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a respected team that leads many facilities in the Lloyd’s market and is focused on growing its global D&O book. With a breadth of appetite, including multinational, in this role you will partner closely with broker and clients to underwrite across our growing portfolio in this market-facing role. We are underwriting led, empowering our underwriters to work autonomously – we are keen to speak with D&O professionals looking to make their next move!

Your new role
- Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the Business Plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues, to maximise influence
- Develop relationships in line with the Business Plan to support the achievement of business objectives
- Participate fully and use your expertise to shape and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
- Positively promote the department, division and company as a whole, to maximise brand leverage
- Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
- Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency
- Actively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriately
About you
- Proven experience within the D&O insurance market, ideally handling major clients or equivalent financial lines business
- Clear ability to build rapport and credibility with varying stakeholders within a market-facing role
- Data analysis skills with the ability to identify, manipulate and analyse large datasets in order to help make underwriting decisions.
- Flexible approach and ability to recognise and adapt to changing business requirements
- Good negotiating skills, innovative in underwriting approach and programme design
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills
