Job Description
Canopius Portfolio Solutions are currently looking for a Graduate Data Analyst, initially on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract. Your ability to interrogate and analyse large and complex data sets using a range of techniques will be required from the outset. You will gain experience across all areas of the business dealing with various stakeholders and getting insight into various departments at Canopius, including Underwriting, Claims, Catastrophe Management, Data, Finance, and Operations, and will develop understanding of how data can be used across these areas.
You will be expected to take responsibility for data received into the business, ensuring that it is complete and accurate and that it is compiled in a way which maximises the gains that can be made, and presentable for internal purposes.
In addition to the above, you will work directly with the Underwriters in the Canopius Portfolio Solutions team to gain experience in the Underwriting community.
Your experience with large, complex and varied datasets in an analytics focussed role or discipline and a naturally inquisitive mindset will help to maximise value from our data. The ideal candidate would be a recent graduate with a numerate background in data analytics and a desire to see their work make a big impact in a technology-first organisation.
- Supports the gathering and documentation of business requirements and data sources for use in operational and analytical solutions.
- Supports the analysis and interpretation of data sources, documenting column mappings, dataset relationships and transformation logic to correct or filter records to ensure data quality, integrity and accessibility.
- Collaborates with business teams to understand their data requirements and provides technical input to data solutions and data delivery processes.
- Summarises and presents findings in visual, easy to understand formats to facilitate decisions from key stakeholders.
- Supports the documentation of mapping specifications and standardisation approaches of master and reference data.
- Supports the creation of test approaches and works closely with the Testing function to ensure end user acceptance.
