The role
To lead Lloyd’s sustainability reporting strategy, drive Lloyd’s sustainability partnerships and support the delivery of Lloyd’s Corporation sustainability strategy, in close partnership with the Corporate Affairs Director, and appropriate Executive Committee members.
Principal Accountabilities
Sustainability strategy
• Design and deliver the sustainability strategy for Lloyd’s Corporation, and lead on behalf of the Corporate Affairs Director on sustainability in the Corporation
• Act as the principal advisor to the Corporate Affairs Director on sustainability working collaboratively to deliver strategic outcomes for the Corporation and the market
• Evolve and deliver the Lloyd’s sustainability strategy and partnerships to further support the aims and purpose of the Corporation and the market
Sustainability partnerships
• Drive forward and execute Lloyd’s sustainability partnerships with key global organisations, working cross-functionally to deliver impact ensuring focus areas are aligned with the priorities of the broader Lloyd’s ecosystem, leading engagement and stakeholder management with global
insurance industry sustainability initiatives and working with the Head of Research & Strategic Partnerships on specific partnership requirements for research
• Responsible for promoting and delivering on the strategic aims of Lloyd’s global sustainability partnerships, in partnership with Corporate Affairs teams, the wider Corporation, and the market where appropriate
Advise the Corporation and Lloyd’s market on sustainability
• Develop and refine the process for overseeing sustainability-related competence of the market, making clear the steps Lloyd’s will take to embed sustainability across the marketplace
• Manage the production of sustainability guidance and set the strategic direction for the market
• Build strong relationships with managing agents, capital providers, and prospective market participants to understand current market sentiment, expectations and capabilities with respect to sustainability
Stakeholder engagement
• Engage with key Corporation stakeholders to leverage wider knowledge and embed sustainability strategy in BAU processes
• Have a peripheral view and enable the commercial strategy of Lloyd’s by bringing together stakeholders and new/existing customers to advance Lloyd’s sustainability strategy, further understand the Lloyd’s market platform and availability of products, and bring new opportunities, including development, to both the Corporation and the market as part of our ambition to be the insurer of the transition
• Deliver updates on sustainability to key Lloyd’s Corporation and market governance forums, including the Executive Committee and Council-level Sustainability Committee, as well as any Exco-led Sustainability forums in the Corporation and the market
Sustainability reporting
• Own and deliver the sustainability reporting strategy for Lloyd’s Corporation
• Own the production of key sustainability reports for the Corporation, including Lloyd’s sustainability report, ClimateWise, UN Global Compact and TCFD reports
• Identify new reporting initiatives for the Corporation which align to our wider sustainability ambitions (e.g. TNFD)
• Develop and own Lloyd’s global sustainability reporting framework to provide strategic oversight of global regulatory reporting requirements and minimises the reporting burden on the market, where possible, by using centrally collected Lloyd’s data
Carbon emissions accounting
• Oversee and own the process for calculating and measuring Lloyd’s carbon emissions, covering all scopes of emissions, supporting the Analytics Manager on delivery
• Design, iterate and deliver a carbon emissions measurement approach for Lloyd’s Corporation, which can enable measurement of the Corporations sustainability targets and ambitions, including any required input to market oversight where necessary
• Provide strategic and technical advice to other areas of carbon measurement, including investments, supply chain and operations, to ensure a consistent and coordinated view of Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions
Sustainability Analytics
• Own the calculation and communication of key sustainability metrics to the Corporation, including monitoring and tracking of these over time, supporting the Analytics Manager on delivery
• Integrate emerging advances in climate change science and modelling to strengthen the Corporation and Market’s understanding and calculation of sustainability metrics where appropriate
• Maintain a view of ‘best in class’ sustainability assessment and frameworks to ensure Lloyd’s can provide an advocate view for the Market
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Senior stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Highly analytical and strong critical thinker
- Demonstrable understanding of the Corporation’s role and how to navigate this to deliver impact on sustainability initiatives and priorities as part of our ambition to be the insurer of the transition
- Ability to communicate effectively at a high level with senior stakeholders from the insurance industry, government or regulators, or other senior leaders
- Ability to operate independently building coalitions and effective collaborations
- Experience of dealing with complex regulatory reporting
- Experience of managing a team
- Experience of multi-tasking with the ability to prioritise and organise workload in order to meet tight deadlines
- Experience in undertaking research or analysis
- Deep knowledge on the breadth of sustainability and the opportunity it creates for Lloyd’s
- Broad perspective on current and emerging risk topics and the insurance applications
- Knowledge of the dynamics of international insurance business and markets
