We have a great opportunity for a Senior Accounting Analyst to join our Glasgow Finance Team on a fixed term contract basis for 12 months. The role works within the Shared Service Centre for Reconciliations and forms part of a team of Onshore & Offshore members reporting to the manager in the Regional Reconciliation teams.
You will be responsible for the approval and accurate recording of reconciliations on the Blackline system, providing analysis and commentary on any open items and liaise with Offshore team members and Regional Operations team to actively investigate and resolve any unidentified differences in a timely manner.
You will take on the role of SME which requires a full comprehension of underlying reconciliation processes and be expected to develop in-depth knowledge and understand of the upstream systems and processes which feed into the reconciliations you are responsible for.
The successful candidate will be required to be a self-starter, with strong communication and analytical skills. Ideally you should have a sound understanding of excel and have finance experience. You will also be expected to be assertive in following up and seeking resolution of queries and issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Balance Sheet Control
- Analysis and reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts.
- Liaise with regions to ensure any open aged items are cleared.
- Full involvement in the approval process for reconciliations in accordance with Global Policy
- Understand and be able to use the Blackline reconciliation tool to enhance the reconciliation process.
BPO Oversight Control
- Ensure tasks are carried out by the offshore team within agreed SLA’s.
- Active involvement in determining the SLA’s and ensuring methods for measuring are in line with the core purpose of the SLA.
- Support the Offshore team to enhance both reconciliation and underlying processes.
- Oversight and control of transitioned processes with the potential for visits to other sites to ensure cohesive working relationship.
- Regular quality assurance checks performed on outsourced processes.
- Review and approval of SOPs.
Process Improvements
- Actively contribute to embedding a continuous improvement culture within the team – are we doing the right thing? Are there better ways to do it?
- Drive recommendations on potential improvement opportunities in the Reconciliation teams.
- Identify and report on benefits i.e. time savings, value add, tighter controls.
Projects
- Be involved in projects that flow through the team; completing test scripts, perform UAT, provide sign off.
Stakeholder Management
- Build relationships with various stakeholders across finance and other areas.
- Contribute to the agreed service delivery:
- SLAs are achieved.
- SOPs fully written and fit for purpose.
- Contribute to the MI provided for operational reviews.
Cross Training
- Ensure cross training across onshore team on all BAU tasks to remediate any risk from key man dependencies.
Sox Adherence
- Complete Sox Controls in line with current guidance
Audit Queries
- Build knowledge to be able to respond to Audit and Financial Control Unit queries
- Strong Excel Skills, ability to cross-tabulate/manipulate data/vlookups/ pivots etc.
- Extensive experience in the creation and resolution of balance sheet reconciliations
Qualifications

- Ability to process engineer ineffective practices
- Proven ability to work to tight deadlines
- Analytical review of management information
- Financial services or insurance experience is highly desirable
- Alteryx knowledge would be advantageous but not a necessity
