We are currently recruiting for a Project Actuarial Data Consultant to join our UK&I Corporate Actuarial team on a 12 month secondment.
You’ll make an impact by:
Your role is to support the Actuarial Function and Operational team in delivering data enhancements to the data responsibilities for the team, ensuring this accurately feeds into the actuarial process. The key purpose of your role is responsibility for extracting, transferring and loading all kinds of data required for the Corporate Actuarial process as well as associated controls and validations. These processes are run monthly, quarterly and annually as required. The outputs are used to generate the base products (such as reporting tables and ResQ input files) that form the foundation of the data inputs to the Corporate Actuarial process (e.g. reserve review analysis, SII/UK, IFRS17, audit, self-service) and onwards reporting.
Some of the key accountabilities are as follows:
- Operation and enhancement of specific processes that support the extract of data from a variety of source systems or databases, and the provision of required data within the Corporate Actuarial team or to wider stakeholders.
- Manipulate and Transform all data requirements within the Corporate Actuarial function. Act as actuarial custodian of the data we require and operate the system of engagement around how the Corporate Actuarial team access and use that data.
- Enhancement and production of base data & MI products (such as base actuarial data table, ResQ inputs, base results tables, hand-off viewer tables, Solvency UK TP cubes) required for Corporate Actuarial work.
- Automation of process wherever possible and constant drive to improve efficiency, consistency of data/process and minimise the need for manual steps.
- Understand our data, our multiple systems, and our processes and changes, and how it all needs to consolidate and come together for Corporate Actuarial needs.
- Agreeing treatment in data solutions with the reserving actuaries on relevant matters such as exchange rate treatment, or different claim types.
- Work with the reserving team to help interpret data aspects of systems and environment changes and how these should be considered for actuarial needs.
Your skills and experience:
Skills required to be successful in your role:
- Extensive experience with SQL and Excel
- In depth understanding of data, systems and infrastructure
- Experience of Manipulating and Transforming data
- An understanding of actuarial analysis requirements to ensure data needs are appropriately addressed
- Credibility to operate in support of the UK Actuarial Managers, and senior colleagues from all other functions who are involved with data and systems across the business.
- Relationship and trust building with stakeholders is paramount
