About the Role
The Chief Commercial Officer is a vital role in delivering the success and profitable growth of the International Division. Reporting to the Head of International and the Global Chief Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for leading the commercial activities of the firm including the execution of the priority growth levers, driving our senior engagement with our strategic broker partners, identifying key opportunities whilst orchestrating the business to maximise them and deliver the production efforts in partnership with the Business Unit Leaders and distribution team(s).
Key Accountabilities:
- In partnership with the Head of Region, create and deliver the Regional GWP plan to ensure profitable growth, achieving plan in the core priority growth areas. This will include leadership of the production board where performance versus plan is reviewed, taking the lead on rectification of underperforming areas/ business units/ relationships
- Laser focus and prioritisation on the business unit growth agenda- CCO must be aligned and in lock step with the business unit on where to focus time and effort, and equally where not to spend energy on opportunities that do not fit with the plan
- Lead the relationship with our core trading partners, creating a segmentation strategy and executing broker premium plans by LOB, ensuring the whole business is aligned against an engagement structure and personal ownership of the executive broker and MGA relationships
- Identify new growth initiatives to ensure the competitiveness of GW&S in new products, partnerships and evolving methods of placement including digital trading, facilities, portfolio solutions and emerging markets
- With underwriting and BU leadership steer the portfolio mix based on broker insights, opportunity analysis to ensure successful profitable growth
- Ensure the commercial strategy of the firm is communicated clearly across the business, building a consistent articulation of the Everest value proposition, that the business unit plans align with the broader strategy and vision, and that front line colleagues approach to market is proactive, visible and positive. To include the commercial culture aligned across all business units and the external brand and market narrative
- Develop a defined, aligned and consistent series of metrics to measure performance of the business, built in peak and central to the production board
Key Requirements:
- Extensive senior leadership experience in the London Specialty and Wholesale Insurance Market, with a demonstrable track record of driving profitable growth at scale within complex, matrixed organisations.
- Proven experience operating at Executive Committee or Senior Leadership Team level, with accountability for commercial strategy, production outcomes, and broker distribution performance across multiple lines of business and regions.
- Deep professional background in Distribution, Underwriting, Commercial Strategy, or a combination thereof, with clear evidence of influencing portfolio construction, capital deployment, and go‑to‑market priorities.
- Highly credible market presence, with long‑standing, senior‑level relationships across Tier‑1 brokers, wholesale intermediaries, and MGAs, and the personal authority to engage at CEO / Executive Committee level with key trading partners.
- Strong expertise in portfolio solutions, facultative reinsurance, structured placements, and alternative distribution models, with practical experience across facilities, delegated authority, digital trading platforms, and multi‑year portfolio approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to orchestrate and align diverse underwriting teams behind a unified commercial strategy, ensuring disciplined focus on priority growth areas while actively deprioritising non‑strategic opportunities.
- Proven track record of building and executing regional or international GWP plans, including ownership of performance governance forums (e.g. production boards) and leading corrective action where performance deviates from plan.
- Strategic mindset with the capability to identify, shape, and execute new growth initiatives, including entry into new markets, product innovation, and evolving placement and distribution strategies.
- Highly driven and results‑oriented leader with exceptional resilience, persistence, and gravitas, able to influence outcomes in a competitive and relationship‑led market environment.
- Strong communication and storytelling capability, able to clearly articulate the Everest value proposition, align internal stakeholders around a consistent commercial narrative, and positively shape Everest’s external market profile.
