Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Profile Raising
- Execute agreed client development plans using best-practice marketing, communications, and engagement tactics.
- Use analytics to identify, track, and progress leads aligned to global and regional objectives.
- Identify trends and topics to inform the development of thought leadership, content, and client tools, and advise partners on their effective use.
Opportunity Identification & Evaluation
- Manage sales pipelines using the firm’s Sales Operating System, ensuring accurate tracking and progression of pursuits.
- Conduct research and analysis using internal and external data to support client, sector, and practice needs.
- Measure and report on return on investment (ROI) from client development activity to inform future strategy.
Conversion & Growth
- Lead strategic pitch and panel opportunities for Enterprise clients, ensuring robust preparation and review processes.
- Prepare high-quality client meeting materials, including insight, research, and marketing assets.
- Run regular pipeline review meetings with partners to assess opportunities and required BD support.
Client Retention & Relationship Expansion
- Act as Client Relationship Manager for designated accounts, overseeing strategy and delivery to drive growth across practices and regions.
- Facilitate partner engagement with Enterprise client programmes.
- Coordinate cross-practice and cross-office client teams to deliver cohesive client strategies.
- Lead and deliver client relationship reviews and matter/satisfaction reviews in line with best practice.
Operational & Commercial Management
- Take accountability for the quality, relevance, and timely delivery of all client outputs.
- Effectively utilise local and central BD resources and collaborate with regional and sector Client Development Managers.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of global BD processes and standards.
- Ensure accurate use of BD systems, data integrity, and effective adoption of BD technology.
- Lead and manage annual client activity budgets, ensuring appropriate spend and return on investment.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in client development or business development within a fast-paced professional services environment (legal sector preferred).
- Strong ability to influence and work credibly with senior partners and lawyers.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with confidence, diplomacy, and commercial judgement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactive, resilient, and tenacious, with the ability to drive initiatives forward and motivate others.
